I There is so much excitement here as Greencrott Christian Church is —under construction. Yep, we had ground breaking on the first of February and by the next week there was visible work done. We are excited not only because the building is so desperately needed but also because there has been a growth in the church. We have had 10 married couples baptized in the past year- Plus 10 to Ivj young people baptized. So many has never seen a baptismal service and we have had a lot of teaching on it before we baptize. We are excited, for the Lord has truly worked in several hardened hearts, One young girl in the Senior High Youth has caused so much trouble and has asked to be baptized and desires so much to change. Another couple's marriage was headed for divorce (due to his drinking probls.T;), in fact the papers were filed. He is now a baptized believer—not that" his problems are solved but he now has a new strength to draw from to overcome—JESUS. We also have several Roman Catholic couples coming—and how excited they are to be able to truly live with JESUS as their High Priest. The excitement continues at Greencroft Christian Church and we truly would love to have you be a part—through your prayers. They are so important and needed at this critical time. Do pray that we continue to have the money to finish the building and that we, as a church, remain close to one another even after we are able to have some "elbow room". The work here is moving forward and I'm excited because each of you has an important role in that movement. Thank you for your continued encouragement and prayers and support. GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST,

On behalf of Jayne Linda, we want to thank you for yourprayers, encouragement and gifts to her ministry in Zimbabwe. The fall season has begun in Zimbabwe and soon the winterseason will begin. There is much activity at the College, and much more work to be done for our Lord and Savior, JesusChrist.

We, as Jayne Linda's forwarding agents, would like tomake a suggestion. Jayne Linda is currently living withanother missionary, Marcia Thomson, but would like to haveher own apartment. The rent for such an apartment isapproximately $350 per month. Apartments are hard to find, especially one close to Zimbabwe Bible College. Even if shecan find one, it does not come equipped with a stove andrefrigerator.

Soyou ask, why are we telling you this. Well JayneLinda will soon have a birthday - July 25. Her home churchin Tallahassee has designated Sunday, June 28 as "Jayne LindaDay". We at King's Way plan to take a special "loveoffering" on that Sunday for a special birthday gift. Perhapseveryone on Jayne Linda's mailing list would like toparticipate. Perhaps all of us together could give enoughfunds to allow Jayne Linda to purchase a stove andrefrigerator, plus have some left over to pay on the rent.

Included with this newsletter is a self-addressedenvelope. Right now, take it out and write the word"BIRTHDAY" on the front of that envelope. Then later ontoday go to the Lord in prayer asking Him to supply the fundsso that you can make a love offering yourself towards thisspecial day. The Lord will bless you.

Don't worry over anything whatever; tell God everydetail of your needs in earnest and thankful prayer..PHIL'IPPIANS 4:6. My God will supply all that you need fromHis glorious resources in Christ Jesus..PHILIPPIANS 4:19.

Now to Him who is able to keep you from falling and topresent you before His glory without fault and withunspeakable joy, to the only God, our Savior, be glory andmajesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before time was, now, and in all ages to come, amen. JUDE 24

HARARE: A CITY OF GATES AND WALLS

As I cont-inue to share with you cultural shocks I have had asa new missionary I hope you will be able to better understaoidhow to pray for those who go to a foreign field. Many timesit is the "little" things that are hardest to learn to dealwith.

One of the adjustments I have had to make is the amount ofgates, walls and locks there are in the city. Everything hasat least one lock on it and possibly more. There are gatesand walls to protect your house, your car, tools, clothes, etc. These are a very necessary part of life here to keepthe "tsotsi's" (Shona for thieves) from stealing all you own.A high value is placed on everything here because of the lackof so much. Therefore, locks, gates, and walls become sovery important.

As the college is now building a much needed classroom block(3 classrooms), we have yet another great need for a wallaround the entire property. This will taike a large amount ofmoney. Your prayers and help are needed. At this time thereis a housing development starting on the property adjacent tothe college and the problems will then only just begin.

At this time, we estimate the wall will be close to $10,000in Zimbabwe (or about $6500. US Dollars). This wall willhelp to secure our vegetable garden, a borehole pump, theworker's housing, the college buildings, tool sheds, and theHarare Christian Church building. I do not know how toexpress how much this is needed except to ask you to praywith us for the funds.

Is it possible for one time gifts to be given for this veryimportant need? Yes, it is possible and I hope you will

Page 6: Free Jayne 1987 Zimbabwe

continue to pray with me about this and the other needs here. The people here are so grateful and thankful for your prayersand gifts.

I want to thank each of you for caring and for writing andmost of all for praying. "May the grace of the Lord JesusChrist, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the HolySpirit be with you all." II Cor. 13:14

With much love,

Jayne Linda

To the friends of Jayne Linda,

Jsiyne Linda wrote this newsletter, not knowing about thespecial "love offering" for her birthday that we wrote aboutlast month. As of July 5th, the special "love offering" hasexceeded $1,100. Also on Sunday, we talked to Jayne by phonein Harare and told her about this special birthday gift. Shewas so excited, and asked us to let you know how much sheloves you all, and for your prayers. God is so good and wealso thank you for this special blessing you gave to JayneLinda.

Now back to Jaiyne's letter. We have a suggestion.Currently there are only five (5) Churches that support JayneLinda on a regular basis. Perhaps your pastor would allowyou to ask the Church Board, Sunday School or MissionsCommittee to set aside one Sunday, »Mkd August 30 (sinceAugust has five Sundays) to take a special offering for theZimbabwe Christian College. But before you ask, please prayfor the Lord's guidance and then act accordingly.

Jayne Linda's work permit ends in October. She hasasked us to pray that the Zimbabwe immigration office willgrant her a renewal. Work permits are granted for a two yearperiod. Please join us in praying for this. Again we takethis time to thank all those individuals and churches whofaithfully send funds each month. So far in 1987 it hasaveraged over $1,200 per month, which is just the amount sheneeds to meet expenses. Nothing more. Paul told the churchat Philippi, "..my God shall supply all your need accordingto His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19.

God bless,

^CUjUyty

Now a special note about your giving. Sometimes a checkarrives made payable to Jajnie Linda. If you intend to take adeduction on your taxes, you must msike your check payable toCentral Africa Missions. This is listed with IRS and checkswith Jayne Linda's name may be rejected by them if you arecalled for an audit. Pray that the IRS and your governmentwill stay out of church activities.

GARMENTS OF PRAISE

The Psalmist says, "Put on the garment of praise forthe spirit of heaviness, lift up your holy hands. ma.t adelight to know that we all have a garment of praise to helpus in the times of heaviness.

Uniforms are a common sight in all of Zimbabwe. Thereare uniforms at the department stores, uniforms for workersin the homes, gardens, factories, garages, grocery scoresetc And we as Christians should all wear a uniform - J"®helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, thesword of the spirit...Eph. 6:13-17

As the students study, they are learning in theclassroom and by the examples around them, about theChristian "uniform" of life. At times we all slip and reallyblow it by the example we set. May we always be aware of theexample we put forth to those who watch us.

As this new term has started, I am more aware of myexample. Because I am in the classroom for the first time,as a teacher since coming to Zimbabwe. I am presentlyteaching two beginning typing classes twice a week PLUSkeeping up with my other duties. I have been thest^nglh ind the energy to do all this so far but as the termprogresses I know that I will have to rely even more on theLord for His strength and energy.

Please keep me in your prayers as I teach by exampleand in the classroom. May God bless each of you as you havecontinually blessed me.

Love to all,Jayne Linda
