ADDITIONAL MATERIALS 4 x 4 in. (10 x 10 cm) piece of cardboard GAUGE 12 dc + 5 rows = about 4 1/4 in. (11 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. NOTES 1. Shawl is worked in one piece, back and forth in rows, beginning at center back

neck. 2. The Shawl is worked with 5 colors of yarn and is shaped with increases. 3. To change yarn color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with

new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st. Fasten off old color. Proceed with new color.

Row 3: With A, ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, 2 dc in first st, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in center ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in top of beg ch-3 – 18 dc, 4 ch-1 sps, and 1 ch-2 sp (9 dc and 2 ch-1 sps on each side of center ch-2 sp).

Row 32: With B, rep Row 6 – 96 dc and 31 ch-1 sps on each side of center ch-2 sp. Change to E. Rows 33-35: With E, rep Row 4 for 3 times – 105 dc and 34 ch-1 sps on each side of center ch-2 sp in Row 35. Fasten off. FINISHING Weave in ends. TASSELS (MAKE 3) Wrap A around cardboard – the more wraps, the fuller your tassel will be. Cut a 10 in. (25.5 cm) length of A and thread into blunt needle. Draw needle under all strands at upper edge of cardboard. Pull tightly and knot securely near strands. Cut yarn loops at lower edge of cardboard. Cut a 6 in. (15 cm) length of A and wrap tightly around loops about 1 1/2 in. (4 cm) below top knot to form tassel neck. Knot securely; thread ends onto needle and weave ends to center of tassel. Trim tassel ends evenly. Tie a tassel to each corner of Shawl.
