1. Remove the cover (A).

2. Pull the emergency access wire (B) by hand in the directionof the arrow to release the lock.

2. All Removed Parts - Install

1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

1. Emergency Access to Trunk Lid Release Actuator - Procedure

1. Pull back the rear seat as needed to access the trunk room.

2. Operates the release lever (A).

Hood Adjustment

1. Front Grille Cover - Remove

2. Hood - Adjust

1. Slightly loosen the hood hinge mounting bolts (A, B) and the hood latch mounting bolts (C).

2. Adjust the hood (D) alignment in the following sequence:

Adjust the hood right and left, as well as forward and rearward, by using the elongated holes in the hood hinges (E).

Turn the hood edge cushions (F), in or out as necessary, to make the hood fit flush with the body at the front and sideedges.

3. Adjust the hood latch (G) to obtain the proper height at the forward edge, and move the latch right or left until the striker (H) iscentered in the latch.

4. Tighten each bolt to the specified torque.

5. Check that the hood opens properly and closes securely.

6. Apply the touch-up paint to the hinge mounting bolts and around the hinges, and let the paint dry.

7. Apply the multipurpose grease to the hood latch and thehood hinges as indicated by the arrows.

1. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switchposition according to the table.

2. If the continuity is not as specified, the hood latch switch isfaulty; replace the hood latch (A).

Trunk Lid Adjustment

3. Trunk Lid - Adjust

1. Slightly loosen the trunk lid hinge bolts (A) and the striker bolts (B).

2. Adjust the trunk lid (C) alignment in the following sequence:

Adjust the trunk lid hinges (D) right and left, as well as forward and rearward, by using the elongated holes. Take care notto hit the rear window when loosening the bolts.

Turn the trunk lid edge cushions (E), in or out as necessary, to make the trunk lid fit flush with the body at the rear andside edges.

Adjust the fit between the trunk lid and the trunk lid opening by moving the striker (F).

3. Tighten each bolt to the specified torque.

4. Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely.

1. Check the trunk lid opener switch (A) according to the table.

NOTE:When an LED is located between terminals, check ifthe LED illuminates by connecting power and ground tothe LED.

Note this important operating characteristic; diode biascauses a diode to fully conduct electricity in onedirection (forward), while not at all in the oppositedirection (reverse).

2. If the result is not as specified, replace the trunk lid openerswitch.

2. Check the actuator operation by connecting power andground according to the table.

NOTE: To prevent damage to the actuator, apply batteryvoltage only momentarily.

2. Carefully pull out the trunk lid spoiler (A) to release the pins(B) from the grommets (C).

3. Trunk lid spoiler B: Disconnect the connector (D).

4. Remove the trunk lid spoiler.

1. Remove the trunk lid torsion bars (A) from the trunk lidtorsion bar clip (B).

2. Remove the trunk lid torsion bars (A) with the torsion barassembly tool from both trunk lid hinges as shown.

NOTE: Locate the painted alignment mark (A) on the trunklid weatherstrip (B). Align the painted mark in the center ofthe trunk lid opening, and install the weatherstrip all the wayaround in the direction shown. Make sure there are nowrinkles in the weatherstrip.

Trunk Light Removal, Installation, and Test

1. Trunk Light - Remove

1. Carefully pry off the trunk light (A) to the side to release thehook and pull out the light.

2. Disconnect the connector (B).

3. Remove the bulb (C) from the trunk light.

NOTE: The under-hood fuse/relay box is a part of the engine compartment wire harness, and it cannot be replaced by itself.

1. Disconnect the cables (A).

2. Remove the under-hood fuse/relay box (B) from the bracket(C).

3. Cut the bands (D).

4. Remove the bottom covers (E) from the under-hoodfuse/relay box.

5. Remove the fuse(s) (F).

6. Carefully remove the relays using the relay puller tool.

NOTE: Do not use pliers. Pliers will damage the relays,which could cause the engine to stall, not start, or causeother functions to fail.
