Kids Holiday

During school hours on Dec 9-11th, children will be able to experience the joy of giving by choosing their own gifts for friends and family. There will be over 125 different items to choose from, customized for all ages. All students will be receiving an envelope to list those for whom your child is to shop, any ideas and price range for each person. The envelope should be sent to school with your child on their designated shopping day listed on their envelope.

Gifts are priced 25¢ to $10 with most items being under $5. We will accept cash or check made out to “PFA of Franklin Elementary.”

This year, we are offering the option to purchase Gift Certificates online at www.holidaylandkidsshoppe.com/giftcert Gift certificates are a great option if you prefer to use a credit card instead of sending your child to school with cash.

We will begin taking yearbook orders in January. All ordering will be online and all yearbooks are pre-sold only. Watch for more information after the holiday break.

And Vendor Show

The cold weather is here, and to help the many people in the Pittsburgh area that do not have winter wear to keep them warm, we will be collecting gently used winter coats. Clean coats of all sizes are appreciated. Collection bins will be located in the school entry area. All coats collected will be donated to a local charity. Thank you to Girl Scout Troop 51496 for coordinating! Questions? Contact Ginny Cross at [email protected]

Since there isn’t snow on the ground yet, why not make some for inside? If your kids are like mine, give them a pair of scissors and a stack of paper and they will be entertained for hours! It’s a great way for them to explore their creativity! Haven’t made paper snowflakes before? No problem! Check out this blog for directions: http://wendolonia.com/blog/2012/01/19/how-to-cut-paper-snowflakes/

To make our 2014-15 yearbook great, we need pictures! If you capture a terrific shot of your favorite FES students, send them in now! The yearbook committee is collecting photos from all Franklin activities such as: First Day of School Donuts with Dad Class activities Back-to-School Picnic Halloween KOK Assemblies etc…

Get the picture? ☺ Please send your pictures to FES Yearbook via:

1. As an attachment to: [email protected]

2. On a CD 3. On a memory stick

All labeled CDs and memory sticks will gladly be returned. 2014-15 yearbooks will go on sale in January. The 60-page hardcover books will cost $20. Only online orders will be accepted. Stay tuned! If you’re interested in coordinating yearbook pages for one of the grades, please contact Jill Liberto via the yearbook email – [email protected]. It’s simple, fun, and can be done from your computer.

Attention December & January birthdays! Donate a book in your child’s name to the Franklin Elementary Library! Or honor that special teacher with a book donation in their name – makes a great teacher Christmas or Holiday gift! Also great to commemorate a special occasion! Books are priced at $6, $12 or $15. Your child gets to select the book during their library period and gets to be the first to check out the book for that week. Plus your child will be honored with a special nameplate in front of the book. The children really enjoy this special treat! Your tax deductible gift will keep on giving for many years! More information and the order form can be found on the Library tab under Quick Links on the Franklin website of under the Resources tab at the top of the Franklin website. Any questions, contact Mina Durosko at [email protected]. Thank you for supporting this program!

There is NO meeting during December. Our next PFA meeting will be on Wednesday, January 7th at 9:30 a.m. in the cafeteria. Come find out all the exciting programs and events we have planned for the school year. Light refreshments will be served and children are welcome. Please remember to sign in at the office. We hope you can join us!
