Math Adoption (7-8)
Process for selection of materials Science/Health Adoption (1-12)
Process for selection of materials Book Rental Implications Technology Implications
Textbook adoptions work on a six year cycle Last year we adopted math (K-6 & HS), this year we
will adopt science (1-12) and math (7/8) and next year we will adopt our misc. area materials.
The adoption cycle is set by the Department of Education.
The DOE also provides a list of approved vendors and negotiated prices.
FCTA appoints the teacher representatives to the textbook adoption committee.
Principals submit names of parents who are interested in viewing and commenting on materials.
Alignment of curriculum prior to the review of materials. The district facilitates the review of materials received from
approved vendors. A recommendation is made to the School Board in April. Once the
School Board approves materials, the ordering process begins. Supplemental fees and consumable fee changes are brought to the board
in May. Textbook rates and fee rates are published for parents through school
newsletters and district website.
