The Frankls were Germans from an old textile family. Frankl was the first American company to import European textile machinery after WW II. The company prospered with the American textile industry. It merged with Heberlein North America in 1980. A. W. Thomas, III former Vice President of U.S. Textile Machine Co. and former President of Utex, Inc. purchased the company in 1986 and renamed it Frankl & Thomas, Inc. At that time the company specialized in products for the manufacture and processing of synthetic fibers. As the textile industry has changed so has F&T. Today products for synthetic fibers are still important. The company also sells OEM quality spare parts and provides technical service for modern weaving machines. It specializes in parts for Sulzer projectile weaving machines. Cots and aprons and yarn sensors are important products for yarn processing. F&T represents Finlane' Group which owns the long staple processing machinery lines Cognetex, Sant'Andrea and Seydel. It also sells Lamberti chemicals to the textile and paper industries.
