Frankl & Thomas was founded in 1946 as Ernest L. Frankl Corp. The Frankls
were Germans from an old textile family. Frankl was the first American company
to import European textile machinery after WW II. The company prospered with
the American textile industry. It merged with Heberlein North America in 1980.
A. W. Thomas, III former Vice President of U.S. Textile Machine Co. and
former President of Utex, Inc. purchased the company in 1986 and renamed it
Frankl & Thomas, Inc. At that time the company specialized in products for the
manufacture and processing of synthetic fibers.
As the textile industry has changed so has F&T. Today products for synthetic
fibers are still important. The company also sells OEM quality spare parts and
provides technical service for modern weaving machines. It specializes in parts
for Sulzer projectile weaving machines. Cots and aprons and yarn sensors are
important products for yarn processing. F&T represents Finlane' Group which
owns the long staple processing machinery lines Cognetex, Sant'Andrea and
Seydel. It also sells Lamberti chemicals to the textile and paper industries.
