Principal’s Message
It is with mixed feelings as I write my final newsletter as the principal at this won-
derful school. The last four years have been exceptional. My greatest joy has been working with the students and seeing their progression over the years. The students are extremely kind, considerate, generous, funny and respectful - and I will miss them greatly. I have enjoyed building relationships with the parents over the years and have appreciated the trust and collaboration that was built to continue to
make Frank Hobbs school one of the best in the district. The students are in excel-lent hands with the incoming principal and the caring and dedicated staff who make it their mission to meet the needs of each and every child.
I take away fond memories of my time here and welcome you to come by and visit me at Hillcrest Elementary if you are in the area. Finally, thank you for sharing
your child with us each and every day. May you have a wonderful summer filled with joy, laughter, fun and rest.
Nia:wen (Thank you),
Cammy Coughlin, Principal

Good bye and Thank You to Mrs. Coughlin
As we approach the end of the school year it is time to say good bye and thank
you to Mrs. Coughlin for her four years of dedication and leadership to our
school. She has always been a strong supporter and advocate of both our stu-
dents and teachers. Everyday at recess times you could find Mrs. Coughlin
walking and talking with any number of students, a favourite part of her day.
Her involvement with students included helping plan School Spirit Days, train-
ing Student Tour Guides and being present at their sporting and fine arts
events.
Over the years, Mrs. Coughlin has shared her knowledge and enriched our staff
and students in the aboriginal ways of learning. She has been a major force in
moving our school forward with 21st Century learning. She has provided oppor-
tunities for teachers to explore and incorporate new technologies into class-
room activities. As well, Mrs. Coughlin has been a huge advocate for providing
fine arts experiences for all of our students.
We thank Mrs. Coughlin for her past guidance and leadership and wish her all
the best as the principal at Hillcrest Elementary.
Ms. Pam Ewart On behalf of the Staff
We would like to
extend a deep
heartfelt thank-
you to Frank Hobbs

classrooms.

FOR THE 2016—2017 SCHOOL YEAR
Volunteers are an important part of our school community. By generously donating their time and
expertise to our school, volunteers support the learning environment for our students. If you are interested
in being a classroom volunteer you will be required to get a Criminal Record Check, see below *.
Also our school is committed to ensuring student safety. With this in mind, drivers who are volunteer-
ing to drive any child other than their own will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check
(CRC) and Driver’s Abstract.
If you can help:
Complete our school’s “Volunteer Driver Form” and provide a copy of your Driver’s License and
insurance.
Phone ICBC to get a copy of your Driver’s Abstract. Go to the following link to get the phone number
for the ICBC office near you: http://icbc.com/driver-licensing/driving-record. Once you receive
your Driver’s Abstract in the mail, please bring it to the school office.
*Apply online for a Criminal Record Check at https://justice.gov.bc.ca/eCRC/home.htm. Use our
school’s access code: GB9F6XH7BN.* Your Criminal Record Check will be sent directly to the
school.
We greatly appreciate all of our volunteer drivers taking the time to complete this process. For further
information, please contact the school office.
* The Criminal Record Review Program verifies identities through an Electronic Identity Verification
(EIV) process. It is important to know that the Criminal Records Review Program is not running a credit
report; it is only using the EIV to verify the applicant’s identity and to make sure the personal information
contained in the criminal record check form is accurate. No information from this process is retained or
stored by the Criminal Record Check Program.
