Alliance Franaise de Brunei is a non-profit organization, which aims to promote, not onlyFrench Culture, but cultural diversity and to support local artists. The cross-cultural exchange isone of our main role.

We are organising one of our main annual event, the Francophonie Week, that will be held on the5th April until 10 th April in BSB area. Internationally, this event aims to celebrate the Frenchlanguage and culture, and also to create dialogue among cultural areas and make people moreaware of the different regions part of the Francophonie organisation (Canada, Indochina,Maghreb, West Africa, Pacific...)

The Francophonie Week is an entertainment for families that, this year, mixes circus, Jazz musicand fine arts. Local artists and French speaking's artists can discover and work around the samegoal: Francophonie as a culture of sharing.

This year, AF de Brunei can offer to Brunei a very intense week with an eclectic programme. Itwould not be possible without the sponsoring of our numerous sponsors : Peugeot, Baiduri Bank,Total as main sponsors, as well as Technal, Cityneon, KFC and much more.

The strong support of Brunei Tourism, in particular KNK campaign, and the help of the Ministryof culture Youth and Sport and of JPCC, has contribute a lot to pull the project together. We wantto mention as well the partnership of the Municipal Board (Ministry of Home Affaire) for thevenue of the exhibition.Those public partnership are precious for AF because they allow us to work side by side withbruneians and propose cultural events that include the traditional Brunei culture. It make theprojects not about showing but about sharing,

For the communication of our event, we have the valuable support Brunei Press, RTB, B-Mobile,Ranoadidas and the Mall.

EVENT SCHEDULE :

5 th to the 10 th April

An outdoor exhibition of sculpture and installation will be held on the waterfront. About ten localartists worked on words about Link and Solidarity. Those creations (installations, paintings andsculptures) will be exhibited in a very unusual place : don town (Bandar) and in front of the river

(near the sculpture of the Sultan Birthday). Every pedestrians could discover the Bruneiancontemporary art with this free entrance exhibition. The opening, on 5 th April at 5p.m, will bealso the way to celebrate the start of the Francophonie Week. Opening hours (9a.m to 6p.m).Among our artistes, Armacester . will animate a workshop in Pusat Ehsan.

8 th AprilA very high Latino Jazz dinner. Selected by the Institut Francais to represent the French culture,Dominique Fillon, compositor, singer and piano player. For his exceptional coming , we will

play wit Australian Jazz musicians: Nic Cecire on drums and Brett Hirst on bass. The EmpireHotel offer to accompany this latin jazz performance by a gastronomic fusion dinner. Theaudience will savour a original fusion menu created especially for the event by SpaghettiniRestaurant's Chef. Price : 85 BND.

9 th AprilOn the stage of the mini-amphitheater of Jerudong Park, Dominique Fillon's band will delight theaudience with a evening dedicated to the Brunei/Latin Jazz. They will be joined by two famousBruneian Artists : Feez Madea and Hill Zaini. those talented singers accepted the invitation toperform with our jazz musicians on great jazz standard. As first part of this event, Eda Brig, aBruneian rock trio, might join and play their own compositions to start this concert.

10 th AprilFor the Family Day, AF programmed a circus, a rare and exceptional entertainment in Brunei.Phare Ponleu Selpak, a circus troupe from Cambodia, created a new comedy show for theBruneian Public : Network. Through different performances of juggling, clowning andacrobatics, those seven circus artists will try to depict with humour the complexity of therelationships between human beings. This modern and poetic circus show is like a tale for thewhole families. The live music of traditional musicians of the Ministry of Culture, Youth andSports will accompany our artists. Show at 3p.m to the main Amphitheatre of Jerudong Park.

AF de Brunei is really glad to collaborate with the circus Phare Ponleu Selpak and to support atthe same time this NGO. PPS is strongly involved in the enforcement of the Children rightsthrough delivering social services to the most vulnerable.
