STAINLESS STEEL SIPHONS

The drainage can not be left to the discretion of each, but in the interest of public health, it is necessary that the drai-nage devices meet certain principles that ensure proper operation. It is in this context that Franceaux offer you its range of siphons.Franceaux has indeed chosen to design its entire range of stainless steel 304L (EN 1.4307 standard according to stan-dard NF EN 1088-1) rather than 304 stainless steel which gives the products better properties and durability.The use and installation constaints study led the Franceaux engineering department to design products for the most demanding users. Our range allows rapid installation, re-gardless of the site conditions, for perfect and lasting re-sults.This new range meets two main principles concerning the drainage :• prompt evacuation of untreated waste water (organic waste or other).• prevent access to the premises of the foul air from sewer or drai-nage system.

FinishingWe paid special attention to the aesthetics of our products. Indeed, our range of siphons has a bead-blasted surface, which gives a nice satin gloss fi nish pleasant to the touch and to the eye. Joints resist water, plant and animal oils as well as water and detergents commonly used in the food industries.

Installation and maintenanceStainless steels meet EN 1.4307 standard (AISI 304L) and do not require any special maintenance. They are easy to clean and return to their original appearance. Howe-ver, we must avoid metal and abrasive element such as brush, sponge or other which may damage the surface of products. Concerning the siphons, all parts should be re-moved and cleaned separately (grids, bells, baskets). The cleaning frequency of the siphons and gutters depends on the application domain. However cleaning is recom-mended every day or once a week depending on the fre-quency of the activity.

• Rinse with lots of clean water.• Replace all the parts and restore the water seal to stop odors.In case of evaporation and in order to prevent from stagnant water, repeat the previous step.

Standards and Special Technical Specifi cations (STS) Our products are designed according to the standard NF EN 1253-1. The essential features of this standard are :• A waterseal depth of at least 50 mm : Franceaux products are 60 mm for most of the range *)• Openings in the grids of 8 mm maximum in areas reserved barefoot• Suitable connection diameters (ND40, ND50, ND63, ND100 etc ...)• Resistors with loads adapted to the location according to NF EN 1253-2

The materials of our range are designed with quality steel EN 1.4307 (AISI 304L) (non-magnetic austenitic stainless steel) and linked to the NF EN 10088-1 for siphons and gutters.The standards listed above are often referenced in the STS and provide a guarantee of quality for the operation, manufacturing and installation of the pro-ducts. Our catalog provide STS standard documents with the standard content you can exploit. Depending on your application and in order to determine your load, it is important to remember the classes in the standard NF EN 1253-1 :• Class H1.5 (1.5 kN load-> 150 kN) inaccessible fl at roofs such as roofs with asphalt pavement, with gravel protection or similar.• Class K3 (Kn-3 loads> 300 kN) without vehicle traffi c areas such as bathrooms in apartments, nursing homes, hotels, schools, balconies, loggias, terraces and roofs.• Class L15 (15 kN load-> 1500 daN) : areas with light vehicle traffi c, excluding forklifts trucks in commercial premises.• Class M125 (125 kN load-> 12500 daN) with vehicle traffi c areas such as car parks, factories, workshops.

Drains, siphons and devices coronation of C250 to F900 class according to EN 124 must be used for areas subject to special constraints such as this type of areas : exhibition halls, market halls, factory workshop and airports hangars.

1 Remove the basket and the grid. Separate the three wall anchors and return the body of the siphon. Fill the gap of the siphon with anchoring mortar or resin in order to avoid air inclusions. Let dry.

2 Make the reservation and seal the siphon body. Connect to the pipe. Ensure the correct alignment and let a suffi cient height for tiling. For an easy fl ow, a suffi cient slope to the fi nished coating around the siphon should be carried out in conjunction with the installer. Let dry.

3 Glue the tiles. Let suffi cient space on the periphery of the frame for applying a joint backer rod and an elastomeric joint in order to prevent from crazing tiles due to the expansion of the siphon body.

Pins and screws

1 Position and secure the plate (pins and screws) in the slab. Connect to the pipe.

2 Return the extension shaft of the siphon. Fill the gap with the anchoring mortar or resin in order to avoid air inclu-sions. Let dry.

3 Remove the bell, basket and grid. Position the nitrile joint (it may be soaped for a better sliding). Adjust the extension shaft according to the ground level, taking into account the thickness of the covering (tiles or resin).

4 If necessary, cut the adjusting screws exceeding the ground level. Pour the fi nishing coating. For an easy fl ow, a suffi cient slope around the siphon should be carried out in conjunction with the installer. Let dry.

5 Glue the coating. Let suffi cient space on the peri-phery of the frame for applying a joint backer rod and an elastomeric joint in order to prevent from crazing tiles due to the expansion of the extension shaft.

6 Apply the tile joint (if it is the selected coating). Let dry. Put the bell, basket and grid.

Protect the siphon with plastic fi lm during the entire duration of the work

1 Position and seal the body of the siphon twisting the wall anchors. Connect to the pipe. For an easy fl ow, a suffi cient slope to the fi nished coating around the siphon should be carried out in conjunction with the installer. Let dry. Remove the grid and the fl ange in order to avoid residues of anchoring mortar or fi nishing coating in the inserts.

2 Recover the fl ange screws and replace. Unroll and paste the coating with glue required by the installer. Be ca-reful not to make a junction strip at the siphon level.

3 Mark the location of the trap body. Draw the blank by using the inside edge of the fl ange, then cut the coating.

4 Heat the coating with a heat lamp to soften and facilitate the positioning of the fl ange. Mark and cut the location of inserts. Remove the screws that were previously placed.

5 Position and tighten the clamp on the siphon body. If necessary, the coating may be ground down, always on the lower edge of the fl ange. Put in place the grid and basket.

1 Position and secure the sealing plate (screwed or glued) in the slab making a suffi cient reservation.CAUTION : the sealing plates are quality stainless steel EN 1.4307 (AISI 304L). It is advisable not to use the leaden plates.

2 Make a sealing fi lm (FERMASEC ® or other) by gluing the sealing plate and the concrete slab. Check sealing with an im-poundment.

The establishment of a sealing plate makes it easier the installation of the siphons and gutters of the range (for «CLASSIC» «SALSA» «JAZZ» «ROCK’N ROLL» models only).We describe here only the installation principle of the sealing plate. The logical assembly of the siphons or gutters named above is described in their respective chapters.

STAINLESS STEEL GUTTERS

Gutters of Franceaux range are made entirely of stainless steel quality 1.4307 (AISI 304L) (non-magnetic austenitic stainless steel and attached to the standard NF EN 1088-1).They are often supplements of the siphons and help ensure a quick and safe disposal of liquid surface. The conceptual design thrust and the provisions for mounting, allow a very simple installation and accurate products, ensuring the best possible integration of the aesthetic point of view with the surrounding environment. Our drainage systems are easy to inspect and ensure the highest level of hygiene for the most diverse applications.

Gutters with gridThe bottoms of our gutters (diamond-scraper or with a fold) are particularly suitable in all situations where it is necessary to ensure a rapid fl ow and quantity of surface liquids. The slatted grids allow greater fl ow area and perforated grid is a barrier to waste.The TANGO-JAZZ and JAZZ models have the advantage of having standard dimensions and meet tight deadlines.The ROCK-N’ROLL model fi ts your needs in terms of size and confi guration (specifi c study on request). Upon request, our gratings can be lockable.

This is a great system economically. In addition, the struc-ture and size of the gutter guarantee very high resilience to loads of passage, ease of install and removal of waste fl uids not loaded.

Finishing The range of the gutters is delivered with an «etched-passi-vated» (gully + grating) fi nishing. Upon request, the surface of our grating can be achieved by electropolishing operation (optional). Our seals are resistant to water, plant and animal oils as well as water and detergent agents commonly used in the food industry.

The modular range «ROCK’N ROLL» allows for accumulation of items tailored to the use requirements of the employ-ment sector. Indeed, it is possible to make traps that can accommodate between 1-4 simultaneous connections, which simplifi es cleaning and inspection. The lengths are supplied in lengths of 3 meters (maximum 7 sections) A module to module G. These are joined together with fl anges to bolt. We can also produce less than 3 meters lengths on request.

The junction between the channel and the trap body is performed:• For fl anges and nitrile seals which facilitates the implementation and adjustment of levels, transport of each element.• We distinguish two types of gutters in the «ROCK’N ROLL» model.

We note below a list of informa-tion to give us. In the absence of these information we will not be able to start production :

• Indicate the environment in which the work will be used (applications).• Provide a sketch showing the outer dimensions of the gutters.For information, grids are narrower than 30 mm the gutter.• Specify the diameter of the pipe and position SIDE A.• Specify the position (horizontal or vertical) SIDE B.• Provide depth to the lowest point SIDE C (exit point).• Book a minimum of 20 mm for the bedding (see sketch below).• Identify loads that grids be submitted.

1 Spread wall anchors on the siphon and the gutter.

2 Provide shoring (for gutter with grid only) in the inner part of the channel in order to avoid deformation of the wall. Provide ballast in the gutter to prevent it back when pouring the concrete anchor.

3 Return modules, together with each other, linking with nuts bolts and gaskets.

4 Fill the projection gap of the gutter and of the siphon with the mortar or resin sealing to prevent air inclusions. Let dry.

5 Inverted and placed the installation using the threaded foot supports. Connected to the pipe. Adjust the horizontal position to the fi nished grade. Allow suffi cient height for tiling.

MANHOLES TO BE TILED

The regards are made from sheets of galvanized steel or stainless steel grade EN 1.4307 (AISI 304L) (according to standard NF EN 1088-1). They are also available in alumi-num AGS. They can be installed inside or outside of buil-dings.

They consist of :• A frame with wall anchors, a device EPDM stuck in a groove,• A removable cover fi tted with a metal reinforcement in concrete reinforcement,• Cover is held by the clamping screw 4. It compresses a constant value O-ring that provides sealing odors and ru-noff.

MaintenanceTo avoid the risk of odors and leaks, it is just advisable to check the gasket, clean appropriate area for deposits of mud or other, or replace it. All types of maintenances (washing, brushing, etc...) are allowed for all coatings used (tiles, bricks etc...)

We recommend to open once a year the covers oh the manhole to clean and lubricate the inner edges of the frame and the edges of the pan with a silicone based lu-bricant.

Norms and STSFor force control, our products meet the standard «device crowning and closing traffi c areas used by pedestrians and vehicles» NF EN 124. It is expressed in kN. The test force or control has nothing to do with the wheel load or tensile strength. This is a verifi cation procedure clearly defi ned in the standard. The test displayed strength is valid for a full concrete fi lling. It decreases with the type of coating used (plate, tile etc. ...).Resistance is obtained with a quality concrete C35/45 (compressive strength 45 MPa) after 28 days. The STS are available on each model and refer to the standards listed below. According to your application and to determine your load, it is important to remember the classes in the EN 124 standards:

• Group 1 (minimum class A15) areas likely to be used only by pedestrians and cyclists. A15 class corresponds to a minimum test force of 15 kN if the passing score is greater than or equal to 250 mm.• Group 2 (minimum class B125) : sidewalks, pedestrian areas and comparable areas, parking lots and parking garages for cars. The B125 class corresponds to a minimum test force of 125 kN.• Group 3 (Class C250 minimum) for the devices installed in the crown area of the gutters of the streets along the sidewalks, measured from the edge, extends up to 0.5 m of the lane and 0.2 m on the sidewalk. The Class 250 is a minimum control force of 250 kN if the passing score is greater than or equal to 250 mm.• Group 4 (Class D400 minimum) : lane roads (including pedestrian streets), hard shoulders and parking areas for all types of road vehicles. The D400 class corresponds to a minimum control force 400 kN if the passing score is greater than or equal to 250 mm.

Our standard range of manholes extends from the A15 class (15kN) to the D400 class (400 kN).

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSMANHOLES

1 MARKING : This ensures the centered position of the cover of the closure manhole.

2 SEALING : apply a mortar fl ange comprising an addi-tive and seal around the periphery of the opening.

3 LEVEL : Lay down the manhole cover on the mortar fl ange and be careful to center it. Lay a level in the man-hole cover and place it at the level of the two diagonal axes by gently tapping with a hammer on a wooden stand.

4 SETTING : stall carefully under a concrete bed of su-perior quality C35/45 in accordance with NF EN 206-1. Avoid the formation of cavities that could compromise the sealing of the manhole cover and make possible a de-crease in case of load.

5FILLING : It is recommended to fi ll up simultaneously the concrete receptacle against the outsides edges of the frame in order not to induce unilateral pressure. We take into account the thickness of the coating so as to deter-mine the amount of concrete to be introduced into the receptacle. Once the concrete has been dried for 28 days, the container must be opened. Concrete residues that are possibly infi ltrated between the tank and the frame should be thoroughly cleaned.

General The following statements summarize the most com-mon locations.Siphons and strainers, fi ttings, materials (mortar, sealing sheet, glue ...) and the establishment ofproduct are important factors in obtaining a work of lasting quality.Upon delivery, and just before installation, the pro-ducts must be reviewed to ensure they have not been damaged.

LocationSiphons and strainers must be installed at the lowest point as close as possible to the source of waste to be collected.In the case of a fl oor covering type «tiles» provide an implementation consistent with the timing of the tiles to avoid cuts affecting aesthetics.

Installation of the body without sealing recovery a - Make reservations in relation to the range of height adjustment of the extension shaft.b - Position and support the body (11) in reservations by checking the horizontality.c - Install the protection cover (12) on the body.
