Framework BSAE

1
OBE Framework (IQ-1) I The OBE Framework of the Degre Program in Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering (BSAE) of the Visayas State University adopts the educational paradigm shift from the traditional teacher-centered system to a student-centered system that focuses on the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA) of the students after taking a course (course outcomes or COs), upon graduation (Student Outcomes or SOs), and 3-5 five years after graduation (Program Educational Objectives or PEOs). The PEOs which answer the question on what we want the graduates to become 3-5 years after graduation, were formulated based on VSU's Vision, mission, and Goals which were formulated based on a series of planning and workshops conducted by the university to come-up with its long and medium term development plans that solicited valuable feedbacks, suggestions, and recommendations from different stakeholders comprising of students, parents, faculty and staff, alumni, communities, industries, GOs, NGOs, farmers, and fisherlfolks, and professional practictioners. The SOs which answer the questions on what we want the students to know (knowledge), be able to do (skills), and value (attitudes) upon graduation are based on the competencies under the Washington Accord Requirements but classified into three categories namely; competencies that are common to HEIs offering BSAE; competencies common to engineering students; and competencies unique to AE graduates. These SOs served as basis in the formulation of the different COs so that each specified SO could be realized. In similar manner, the COs served as basis in the formulation of the different Learning Outcomes (LOs) that the students should develop after taking a topic under each course being offered. The LOs provided basis in the Assessment and Evaluation of the learnings and competencies of the students using the Outcomes-Based Teaching Learning Activities (OBTL) comprising the Outcomes-Based Curriculum (OBC) of the BSAE. A regular Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) will be implemented based on the results of the regular Assessment and Evaluation on the attainment of the different COs semestral), SOs (annual), and POs (3-5 years) after graduation. The degree program will also undergo regular accreditation and certification following the Washington Accord requirements to ensure the sustainable production of highly trained and internationally competitive graduates with the appropriate KSA.

  • OBE Framework (IQ-1)I The OBE Framework of the Degre Program in Bachelor of Science in

Agricultural Engineering (BSAE) of the Visayas State University adopts

the educational paradigm shift from the traditional teacher-centered

system to a student-centered system that focuses on the development

of knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA) of the students after taking a

course (course outcomes or COs), upon graduation (Student

Outcomes or SOs), and 3-5 five years after graduation (Program

Educational Objectives or PEOs). The PEOs which answer the

question on what we want the graduates to become 3-5 years after

graduation, were formulated based on VSU's Vision, mission, and

Goals which were formulated based on a series of planning and

workshops conducted by the university to come-up with its long and

medium term development plans that solicited valuable feedbacks,

suggestions, and recommendations from different stakeholders

comprising of students, parents, faculty and staff, alumni,

communities, industries, GOs, NGOs, farmers, and fisherlfolks, and

professional practictioners. The SOs which answer the questions on

what we want the students to know (knowledge), be able to do (skills),

and value (attitudes) upon graduation are based on the competencies

under the Washington Accord Requirements but classified into three

categories namely; competencies that are common to HEIs offering

BSAE; competencies common to engineering students; and

competencies unique to AE graduates. These SOs served as basis in

the formulation of the different COs so that each specified SO could be

realized. In similar manner, the COs served as basis in the formulation

of the different Learning Outcomes (LOs) that the students should

develop after taking a topic under each course being offered. The LOs

provided basis in the Assessment and Evaluation of the learnings and

competencies of the students using the Outcomes-Based Teaching

Learning Activities (OBTL) comprising the Outcomes-Based

Curriculum (OBC) of the BSAE. A regular Continuous Quality

Improvement (CQI) will be implemented based on the results of the

regular Assessment and Evaluation on the attainment of the different

COs semestral), SOs (annual), and POs (3-5 years) after graduation.

The degree program will also undergo regular accreditation and

certification following the Washington Accord requirements to ensure

the sustainable production of highly trained and internationally

competitive graduates with the appropriate KSA.
