With Frame relay you’re able to build managed, multisite connectivity for customer WANs. W-FR is the foundation of a scalable and cost effective customer LAN interconnect solution supporting bursting data and bandwidth requirements from 64Kbps to 1984Kbps.

Technical overview W-FR

A W-FR solution is comprised of N x 64k private line access circuits to each site combined with a Permananet Virtual Circuit (PVC) mapped across switches within the Vodafone network interconnecting the two accesses.

The access circuit connects the Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) - Router or Frame Relay Access Device to a port on the W-FR switch.

PVCs are assigned unique Data Link Connection Identifiers (DLCI) that are locally significant to each access.

W-FR is delivered to site on a Vodafone supplied NTU or mounting plate and supports X.21, V35, or 2M G.703 interfaces.

Frame Relay (W-FR)

Frame relay is a telecommunication service designed for cost-efficient data transmission for intermittent traffic between local area networks and between end-points in a wide area network.

The diagram shows the end to end connectivity path for a Frame Relay service. It also shows how redundancy can be added to the FR Service.
