Transcript of Fragments by Blake

Fragments

Fragments is an extraordinary partnership betweentragedy and hope. While the inspiration for the workoriginates in the horrors of conflict and military waste, the objective of the art is to raise awareness of explosive remnants of war.

Fragments is a collection of sculptures each available in an edition limited to twelve. These one-quarter life-size bronze sculptures are modeled from life and then deliberately disfigured by the artist. The result is an exhibition of hauntingly beautiful fragmented figures, each named after a type of landmine.

The Fragments sculptures are responsible for clearing minefields in Vietnam and Afghanistan, supporting cluster munitions removal in Kosovo, mapping minefields in Angola and providing mine risk education to children in danger areas.
