Dear Friends,
Got Lent? If not, this week will be a great time to
get into the spirit of the Lenten season. Fr. Peter
Joyce, Pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption
Parish in Milford will be with us this week to
preach on, “Being Disciples of Mercy”.
Fr. Peter was in the city of Southbridge for thirty
years. He became the pastor of then St. Mary’s
Parish and eventually was given the charge by the
bishop to create one parish community out of the
four parishes in the area. He was then the pastor
of the newly formed St. Pope John Paul II
Parish. He is bi-lingual and speaks Spanish
fluently and has been involved in Spanish ministry
for over twenty-five years. He is also the National
Chaplain of the Juan XXIII Movement in this
country and participates in their world-wide
conventions.
The schedule for the week is below and I hope you
will take advantage of at least one, if not all, of the
evenings.
Peace,
Fr. Michael

Father Carlos’ Pills of Faith
“But he was speaking about the temple of his body.” This Sunday Jesus reminds us that like him we are also temples. At the moment of our creation
God shared with us his breath of life. When we were baptized we received the gift if the Holy Spirit. And every time to receive the Body of Crist we become Tabernacles in which he abides and stay to strengthen us. If we are a temple of God we are called to reflect his love and mercy by our action, our prayer, and our care for one another. However, many times for us it is difficult to echo the presence of God, sometimes we do not have enough strength or courage to become the face of Jesus to others. Then, we hear the words of Saint Paul, “The weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” And Psalm 19, “Lord, you have the words of everlasting life.” Our Father, God, is our support and company, he is our strength in moments we need it the most. His voice leads us, and his precepts gives us light. As we walk through this Lenten journey let us ask Him to be with us at all times and to helps us to realize fully that we are His temple. We are tabernacles of love, happiness, and peace to give to one another.
