It is of the utmost importance that Pharmacists ensure their stock is stored correctly, especially in relation to those medicines which require storage at low temperatures. All FPD Medical pharmacy products conform to the recommendations for storage of vaccines in the ‘Green Book’, as issued by the Department of Health. In addition all FPD supplied Medical pharmacy refrigerators maintain an internal temperature between +2°C and +8°C and the external digital temperature controller continuously monitors the minimum and maximum temperatures and an audio-visual alarm is also included which activates if the temperature goes outside the set parameters for more than 15 minutes, all of which follow the guide lines set by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) and recommendations from the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPA).

Pharmacy refrigeration – top tips for best practice1.Record max/min temperatures at least twice daily to check consistent performance2.Avoid prolonged door openings when restocking (15 seconds maximum) and ensure the door is closed swiftly and properly after use3.Keep stock safe by locking the refrigerator door to ensure only authorised personnel can access the contents 4.Practice good stock rotation.
