PASTOR`S MESSAGE – CHRISTMAS 2017
Dear Parishioners, Visitors and Friends in the Lord,
With joy and gratitude I offer you my best and prayerful
wishes for Christmas 2017. We have so many reasons to
celebrate as a parish community. We are proud of our
seniors who come together to pray, learn and share the
faith. They inspire a new generation of disciples to be proud
of our Catholic heritage and live the Gospel in the service of the poor. Our ministries
and groups continue to meet frequently and reach out to meet many spiritual and
physical needs of our sisters and brothers. This gives us hope which strengthens and
encourages us to see Christ in each other daily. This hope also invites us to look
forward and to stand strong with joyful hymns of Christmas on our lips and in our
hearts. “O come let us adore Him. Christ the Lord!”
The late Mother Marie Therese, a contemporary German mystic and founder of a
new religious order (Communion in Christo) wrote these prophetic words on the
meaning of Christmas:
“With outstretched hands this child [whose birth we celebrate] offers his love. It
embraces each one of us and shows us the way, the way of his love. This is why God
has become man: to reveal his love. Ever since his word has ruled the world: “You
love me if you love your neighbour. You cannot love God unless you love your
neighbour.” On this Christmas Day he challenges us: “The world suffers hunger,
poverty dominates this century. War prevails, torture and hatred of foreigners.” We
live in fear, try to protect ourselves and lose confidence.
This child is the love of God; he is the Redeemer, whom we remember. He knocks on
our door in thousand fold human form. His request is personal so that we may
recognize him in those who are like us, in those who are our brothers and sisters, and
in those who have been redeemed like us.”
I pray for each and every one of you at this blessed time of Christmas. May your
hearts be filled with faith which trusts God no matter what; with hope which looks
ahead with courage and Love of the Baby King – our Lord Jesus Christ. May his
presence and light rule our hearts forever.
Joy to the World! Joy to all!
Blessed, Healthy and Merry Christmas!
Love and prayers always,
Fr. Andrew
