Reflection on Our Cover
Jesus’ cure of the man born blind suggests a new creation. The struggle here is between darkness and light, between blindness and sight. Jesus underscores the urgency of his ministry. He and his disciples must do God’s work while it is yet day, for the night will come when such work will have to cease. Jesus identifies himself as the light of the world. The man, who is gradually brought from physical blindness to sight, also progressively moves from spiritual blindness to religious insight. This is not true of the Pharisees. They prided themselves on being disciples of Moses, but they were blind to the truth that the newly cured man saw so clearly. The one who was blind sees, and those who can see are really blind. Palm Sunday Procession Sunday, April 17, 2011
If you are interested in participating in the Palm Sunday 11:00 a.m. Mass pro-
cession, please arrive by 10:45 a.m. in the Parish Center. Also, after each Mass we will be demonstrating how to fold your palms into a cross in the Parish Center. Bring the Family!
Dear Parishioners/School & Faith Formation Families, Lent: As we progress through Lent, let’s remember that it is a special time for us to become better human beings and Christians. When Easter comes around, thanks to the Lenten journey, we may have discovered a bit more about ourselves: our failings and strengths, our need for more love, our perspective on what matters in life and what does not, the spirit of joy, our sharing of life with others, the insight that suffering borne out of love can be redemptive, and that we are all made for eternity when the short journey ends on earth. Let’s keep searching and loving more these days of Lent. Palm Sunday: Procession and Cross Making: There will be a procession with palms before the 11:00 a.m. Mass, which will start from the Parish Center, and wind around the church before entering the church. Those of you who would like to join this procession are most welcome to join us at 10:45 a.m. in the Parish Center. Also, after the 8:00, 9:30, 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Masses on Palm Sunday, there will be volunteers in the parish center who would teach children how to make crosses with palms. You are most welcome to bring your children and grandchildren. Even the grown-ups are welcome to join in the cross making. These crosses, as you know, will be kept at your homes and then returned to be burned into ashes and used on Ash Wednesday. Walk-a-thon: On Friday, April 15th our St. Veronica Men’s Club will be hosting the annual Walk-a-thon event. Students from our

G od of Creation,
Please sustain our sisters and brothers that are suffering around the world as a result of conflict and natural disas-ter. Console our Japanese sisters and brothers who are living with the results of a devastating earthquake fol-lowed by the tsunami. Comfort those separated from their families and loved ones. Bless the relief workers as they work with the survivors of this natural disaster. Protect those responding to the nuclear power plants and enable them to prevent further harm. Amen.
St. Veronica Catholic School have another opportu-nity to get out in the fresh air and do a little exercise by walking and raise funds for the St. Veronica Catholic School Relief Fund (formerly known as the Memorial Fund). We are inviting friends, family members, and pa-rishioners to be part of this fun event by acting as sponsors for the students. Read further in the bulletin for more information on this fundraising event for our school. Poker Fundraiser: After due consultations with the Archdiocese, we have decided to let the Men’s Club host a “Texas Hold’em” Poker Fundraiser on May 14, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. This parish event will take place in the Parish Center with a check-in at 6:00 p.m. It’s hoped that while this event will bring people together on a poker night, it will also help raise funds for the parish and the maintenance of the Par-ish Center. In the next few weeks there will be more details provided in the parish bulletin. Save the date! Your Friend and Pastor, Rev. Charles Puthota
Announcements Thank you to all who reached deep into their pockets during the recent collections for our brothers and sisters in Japan and Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Our Parish is so blessed by having such generous and caring people in our midst. Our St. Vincent de Paul Pantry is also showing new life that certainly will bring relief to struggling individuals and families. It is clear by your actions that while our Parish has physical boundaries, St. Veronica Church does not. May you all continue to be showered with blessings and open eyes to recognize them. Our God is everywhere even in de-spair and tragedy. He continues to be our hope, our light, and our salvation.
