Methodist Health System
Since the topping-out ceremony for the new Methodist
Mansfield Medical Center Tower Two in December 2014,
construction has progressed rapidly. The 118-bed,
110,000-square-foot patient care tower is a little over six months
from completion.
To date, the capital campaign has raised $621,360 of the
$2 million goal, so it is time for a Texas-sized push to the finish
line. The capital campaign is focused to raise the remaining
$1.3 million to meet the goal. Naming opportunities to honor
someone special or leave a family legacy are available.
‘Methodist Mansfield campaign’ continued on page 4
Where is home? I was raised in Silsbee and graduated from Baylor
University in Waco with degrees in marketing and entrepreneurship.
Since then, I’ve called Dallas home for more than 20 years. I love being
part of this dynamic, vibrant community!
Have we met before? It’s quite likely. I’ve served on more than a dozen
charitable boards, as a volunteer member of Crystal Charity Ball and Junior
League of Dallas, and as a docent team leader at the George W. Bush
Presidential Library and Museum. I’ve also chaired or co-chaired events
that together raised more than $7.5 million for our community. Maybe I
saw you at the New Friends New Life Luncheon, Genesis Women’s Shelter
Luncheon, or the Volunteer Center of North Texas Luncheon.
What’s next at the Foundation? It’s so exciting to be a part of a
team working to support a variety of programs and projects at Methodist
Dallas, Methodist Charlton, and Methodist Mansfield Medical Centers.
Currently, my focuses are the 2015 Robert S. Folsom Leadership Award
event and reaching our $2 million goal for the Methodist Mansfield Tower
Two capital campaign.

supporting Methodist.
Dear friends,
Thank you for supporting Methodist
Health System Foundation.
With the successful close of the
BrightER campaign and the
$2 million Methodist Mansfield Medical Center
Tower Two campaign gaining momentum, we are
taking a moment to reflect on the lives changed
by the generous donations of our donors. From
healthier babies, to lifelong care and support for
cancer survivors, to a new Level I Trauma Center
designation, you are a powerful partner in our
mission to improve and save lives.
Methodist Health System is making news in 2015.
On Jan. 20, we celebrated Methodist Dallas’ first-
in-the-nation pancreatic surgery certification by
The Joint Commission. This achievement resulted
from years of devotion by our clinicians, who believe
in ensuring families facing pancreatic disease are
offered the best treatment options possible.
Methodist also continues to educate North
Texans about our new collaboration with Mayo
Clinic. As the first member of the Mayo Clinic
Care Network in Texas, Methodist provides
physicians access to eConsults and other Mayo
Clinic resources. It’s just one more way we’re
ensuring North Texans have access to world-class
care right here at home.

Best regards,
April Box Chamberlain, CFREPresident and CEO

KidneyTexas awards $30,000 to pilot programKidneyTexas, Inc., is dedicated to
improving methods of treatment for
kidney disease, providing care for
people with the disease, and searching
for ways to prevent and cure it. When
Methodist Health System Foundation
presented a novel pilot program to
help low-income and uninsured dialysis
patients get the oral care required for
transplantation clearance, KidneyTexas
provided leadership support to launch
the program.
For patients with end-stage renal
disease, kidney transplantation offers
added years of enhanced-quality living,
free of the rigors and complications of
being on dialysis. Yet, dialysis is the
only treatment option for patients with
oral health problems that often result
from a combination of factors, including
fragile immune systems, medications,
poor nutrition, and a lack of access to
dental care.
Thanks to the support of KidneyTexas,
The Liver Institute at Methodist Dallas
Medical Center will be able to help
remove a financial barrier between
dialysis patients and their pre-
transplant dental clearance and
fulfill Methodist Health System’s
mission to improve and save lives.
The two-year pilot program is
anticipated to serve approximately
15 patients, providing maximum
assistance of up to $2,000 per patient.
KidneyTexas, Inc.,
presented grant awards
to its 2014 Fashion
Show and Luncheon
beneficiaries at a
reception on Dec. 9, 2014.
Shown attending are

Nicholas, BSN, RN,

pancreas transplant
coordinator; and Karen
Settle, 2014 event chair.
W hen Craig A. Albert was introduced to Methodist Health
System by his friend Jeff Staubach, he gladly became
involved, serving on the BrightER Capital Campaign
committee for the new Charles A. Sammons Tower at Methodist Dallas
Medical Center.
“I’m really impressed with the impact that Methodist is making on southern
Dallas County,” Albert says. “I think it’s a great mission to bridge historic
boundaries and bring high-level service to the southern sector and the rest of
Dallas. That’s invigorating to me. I want people to know Methodist has a real
heart for this community.”
Albert’s board membership was approved at the Dec. 10, 2014, meeting
of the Methodist Health System Foundation board of trustees. He is looking
forward to working together for the continuing betterment of Methodist.
“It’s an honor to work with April Box Chamberlain and the rest of the
trustees,” he says. “I think it is a superb group.”
Invigorated by Methodist’s heart for Dallas

Craig A. Albert (left) served on the BrightER Capital Campaign
committee before joining the Foundation board. He is shown here
with Michael Hurst at a private campaign event hosted by Jeff Staubach.
Recognized capital campaign donors who
have led the campaign include Dallas Renal
Group and Liberty Dialysis, contributing
$150,000; Methodist Mansfield Auxiliary,
contributing $50,000; Carl and Ed Esstman,
contributing $50,000; Cardiology Partners,
donating $25,000; and Liz and Claude
Cunningham, donating $25,000.
It is the hope that generous donors will
step forward to help bring a higher level of
care closer to their families and neighbors.
Along with offering enhanced health care
services to residents in Tarrant, Ellis, Johnson,
and southwestern Dallas counties, the tower
will add more than 200 new jobs to the area.
