My last vacations

My last vacation was in the state of Chiapas. That visit places like “El Cañon del Sumidero”, “Las Lagunas de Montebello”, “San Juan Chamula” and “San Cristobal de las Casas”.

Then I will describe some of the attractions of these places.

“El Cañon del Sumidero” is one of the main tourist attractions of the state.

On trips by boat along the way one can see the sedimentary layers that form the local crust and beautiful landscapes, almost vertical walls adorned with stone structures, among them is the known as "Christmas trees" ; caves fit several boats, the island of La Soledad, small waterfalls and streams rushing temporary from heights.

It is surrounded by walls, which some explorers rise nearly 1,000 meters above water level. The navigable portion has a length of 32 kilometers. and an average width of 200 meters reaching up to 2,000 meters.

At a time “El Cañon del Sumidero”, lies the city of “San Cristobal de las Casas”.

“San Cristobal de las Casas” is considered by many European tourists, as the most beautiful and interesting city of Mexico, for the simplicity of its people, the rich biodiversity of nature and the strong indigenous tradition. It is the oldest colonial city and the cultural capital of Chiapas state.

For those interested in the ethnography of the Indians is a fascinating place, especially for its market, where Indians come from nearby communities that have managed to maintain their origins.

Then, starting from the city of “San Cristobal de Las Casas”, 10 kilometers of it on the road leading to “San Andres Larrainzar” is the community of “San Juan Chamula”.

The most striking aspect of this community is the magical atmosphere that is stored inside the main church, in her Chamulas syncretic rituals involved in a unique devotion and solemnity in the country, introduced by the missionaries of the sixteenth century, and suited to older religious traditions.

Finally, there are the “Lagos de Montebello”.

It is a very beautiful and crystal clear water. Its beauty is due to their aquatic environments, both surface and underground. It is an area of eight square kilometers, are located more than 50 lakes where the depth varies from 10 to 120 m.

His fame is due to the different shades of waters ranging from pale blue through violet, emerald and turquoise, these are produced by the soil, vegetation and refraction of light.
