BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)
Forum – 5th of March
On Wednesday the 5th of March, the eLearning Team
from Buninyong Primary School will be holding a ‘Parent Forum’ to explore the notion of a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program that we are considering for the beginning of 2015. The purpose of the night is to explain what BYOD is all about and what it may look like at our school. This is a good opportunity for you to ask questions and add your thoughts to help us develop the best way forward for the use of IT to promote learning at Buninyong PS. In short, the details are:
When: Wednesday the 5th of March (6 – 7pm)
Where: BER Building Open Space
(New Building).
Who: Anyone who wishes to attend.
What: A discussion forum on BYOD
(Bring Your Own Device) for consideration in 2015.
Why: To develop a way forward with IT at
Buninyong together.

BRINGING PERSONAL PROPERTY TO SCHOOL
At this time each year the department asks us to give our parents and students the following reminder.
Personal property is often brought to school by students, staff and visitors. This can include mobile phones, electronic games, toys, musical instruments, sporting equipment, and cars parked on school premises.
The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and it has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property.
As such staff and students are discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to school.

CLASSROOM HELPERS PROGRAM
Dear Buninyong and Scotsburn Parents,
Successfully managing a classroom and meeting the needs of all students can be a real challenge, so we are always keen to have parents helping out. Each year we run a Parent Helpers Program which aims to help parents build knowledge and confidence that is useful when helping out in classrooms. The focus is on Literacy and the course is comprised of 2 sessions. Attending the program is not a pre-requisite to help out in classrooms, but it is certainly very helpful.
We would like to invite you to participate in the Classroom Helpers Program for 2014. Details are as follows:
Session 1—This session has a focus on home reading and sight words as is useful for parents wanting to support their child’s reading at home. This session will be run on Friday March 5th from 2:00 - 3:15pm and repeated on Friday 7th of March from 9:00 - 10:15am
Session 2—This session has a focus on being a helper with literacy in the classroom and is to be run on Thursday March 12th from 2:00 - 3:15pm and repeated on Friday March 14th from 9:00 - 10:15am.
All sessions to be held in the staffroom at our Buninyong Campus in the meeting room which is located in the admin block.
If you would like to participate please complete and return the slip below to the office.

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
A big thankyou to the many parents who have taken the time to sit down with their child to read through and sign the Student Code of Conduct that went home recently. It’s not too late if you haven’t managed this yet. Some of you have no doubt have gone into the school’s website and had a read of the Student Engagement Policy which has been implemented at BPS since the beginning of last year. This policy explains in detail a whole school approach to managing student behaviour.
Sending home the Student Code of Conduct at the beginning of each year helps all members of
the school community (students, parent & staff) to be on the same page with consistent
understandings and expectations related to student behaviour. As always, please contact your
child’s teacher, Bernie or Sue if you have any concerns.
