FORTUNE TELLING
Room 106
A mystical fortune teller reads students fortunes from cards or crystal ball. • 1 stamp to play; participants receive a prize (no tickets awarded).
• Run Time: 6:30 to 9:15.
Staff: Two costumed, character acting Room Heads in shifts, plus 1 helper for the door for each shift.
Supplies:
! 1 table, 2 chairs for each fortune teller ! Extra chairs for parents to watch
! extension cords/ power bars for lights ! fortune telling props (tarot cards, crystal ball, scarves, etc)
! large sheets of shear material for decorations, covering tables ! hanging beads for doorway
! black plastic and gaffer tape for walls, whiteboards ! candles and a lighter
! prize (usually fortune telling fish or Chinese fortune cookie) ! bingo stamper for door
Preparations:
! arrange for purchase of cookies or other prize with prize coordinator
Set-up: Decorate room with large pieces of material (usually white shears); low lighting used. Candles may be used as long as Room Head is present.
How it Works: One participant at a time sits on a chair before the Fortune Teller. Fortune Teller
reads their fortune from palm or 2 to 3 Tarot cards (using discretion – no super scary predictions! Ie. Character: strengths, future successes in academics, sports, music, art, friendship, interests,
etc. 2 to 3 minutes each reading!). Participant receives prize.
Note: controlling line-up is key! Ensure door person only lets in participant (and parent) for the reading – no line-up inside room! NO foggers as they will set off the fire alarm
