FORT WORTH ART DEALERS ASSOCIATION
™
2 FWADA FALL GALLERY NIGHT 2019
FWADA is a unique arts organization in a unique American place. Few cities of Fort Worth’s size are privileged to com-mand such a wealth of major art museums, and fewer still have such a vital community spirit. What truly sets Fort Worth apart, however, is the vigorous, longstanding, clearly defined coop-eration between the museums, the university art galleries, the non-profit exhibition spaces, and the art dealers, all of which are full working members of FWADA. To fulfill its stated mission to stimulate interest in the visual arts through educational pro-grams, art scholarships, and art competitions, FWADA orga-nizes, funds, and hosts exhibitions of noteworthy art. It spon-sors the Fall Gallery Night for members and friends, as well as Spring Gallery Night. All these attainments have created a stable environment that produces a steady stream of top-notch talent, including major local artists who exhibit their work nationally and internation-ally. Newcomers are frequently dazzled by the quality of work being created in every medium and style. Their passion rein-vigorates Fort Worth patrons who have become habituated to the riches that surround them, reminding them anew that the most authentic cultural connection they can make is the one that affords direct communication with the artists who interpret and illuminate the life experience they share through common background and interests. Although the city is justly recognized for its cosmopolitan worldview, it is the local artists and their devoted collectors who are the lifeblood of the Fort Worth art market. The members of the Fort Worth Art Dealers Association are pledged to the maintenance of a high standard of ethical con-duct and professional integrity, these businesses furnish a model that gallery associations in other cities might do well to emulate. FWADA is to be commended for its important role as a contributor to the cultural and esthetic richness of Fort Worth. – Suzanne Deats

THREADSIn partnership with Artes de la Rosa, Art Tooth is excited to present “Threads”, a group exhibition, opening Fall Gallery Night and continuing to be on display until October 4, 2019. “Threads” explores the literal and figurative meaning of the term with pieces that utilize fabric or representation of fabric. The exhibition also references “threads” as a connection between people. We invite viewers to recognize the many con-nections they are making when entering the gallery. Whether it’s a personal connection to a piece, artist to viewer, reminders of family figures in the piece, the friends and family you attend the exhibit with, or the friends you meet at the exhibit art sets in motion a plethora of connections that weave the creation of a community.Featured Artists: Sara Cardona, Krista Chalkley, Celia Cortez, Samantha Page Cooper, Michelle Cortez Gonzalez, Aubrey Pittman-Heglund, Clayton Hurt

Artspace111 is pleased to present Refired POW! a new solo exhibition by Nancy Lamb that reinterprets past ceramic works; another view from days of clay. On display alongside the new works will be rare original ceramic pieces that inspired the show. “Well over 30 years ago, whenever Nancy needed rent, and I could afford it, I headed straight to Fort Worth to add yet one more strange, beautiful, and terrifying ceramic, freshly birthed from her kiln to my collection. These artworks have remained among my prized pos-sessions – until now, please enjoy this exhibition, Refired POW!” – Bill Jenkins
the nancy lamb ShopIn the spirit of reimagining past works, Artspace111 and designer Brooke Wright have worked with Nancy Lamb to produce new luxury items that feature elements from past pieces includ-ing her ceramics and two-dimensional works. Fort Works Art is pleased to present Picking Up the Pieces, a solo exhibition featuring Brooklyn-based artist Eric Inkala in our Main Gallery. Picking Up the Pieces is Inkala’s return to the gallery following his participation in the massive group show #28grams in 2017 and comprises over fifteen acrylic on canvas paintings created within the last year. In the same vein as KAWS and Keith Haring, Inkala’s graffiti-turned-contemporary paintings depict environments of emotional expression and abstract escapades emphasized by bold color palettes. He uses a vocabulary full of his signature cartoon-like imagery to explore and work through themes of love, mortality, coping and coming back from loss.
Running concurrently in the upstairs gallery space is Honey Bee, a solo exhibition by Fort Worth artist Jay Wilkinson that will feature over 40 graphite on paper drawings that showcase small-scale and highly detailed portrait studies based on Wilkinson’s photog-raphy of his friends, family, or complete strangers.

ANOTHER FRONTIER:Frederic reminGton’S eaStFrederic Remington’s art has so profoundly shaped our perceptions of the Old West that we only vaguely, if at all, recall that he was an Easterner born and bred. He grew up in Canton and Ogdensburg, New York—the North Country, the forested region stretching from the Adirondack Mountains across the St. Lawrence River into Canada. The artwork on view, on loan from the Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg, New York, shifts the focus from Remington’s popular Western imagery to his less familiar Eastern subjects, inviting visitors to expand their knowledge of the iconic artist.

SiNaCa Studios is hosting local artist, Art Fairchild, for Fall Gallery night and will present collaborative demonstrations between Art and the SiNaCa team from 5pm until 9pm in the glassblowing studio. Art Fairchild’s sculptures are known for their exquisite quality, detail and craftsmanship. Working both in monumental and small scale, his designs range from simple forms to intricately detailed compositions. Familiar themes seen in his work are repetition of elements and mathematical arrays. They often are kinetic, both apparent and virtual. He combines his rigorous engineering adeptness with aesthetic intuition and uses self-imposed parameters to shape his works.

buster Graybill: Abstract UtilityOn view through November 23
Graybill harvests memories, stories, language, and objects from the rich cultural geography of rural America. His new sculpture, R.MUTT: Renegade Modernist Utility Travel Trailer, responds to his perception of escalating cultural tension, paranoia, political anxiety, and cultural obsession with the “End of the World.” Part Dooms-Day-Prepper vehicle and part Modernist sculpture, the R.MUTT is a Swiss Army knife of both form and function.

Randall Reid’s SIgnS Of WeAR is the latest series of artwork that represents a faded era. With the skill of both an artist and craftsman, he demonstrates a refined understanding of form and content. Randall redirects fragments of collected material of historical reference such as signage, wood and steel, enhancing the focus of an era of remembrance. He opens and transforms dormant memories from chapters previously closed into new life with new meaning. By re-contextualizing the past, Randall creates new iterations that abound in the present.

blackeyed distilling co. 503 Bryan Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76104817.349.9977 www.blkeye.com
The story behind BLK EYE Vodka started with a bold idea. From that, we created something entirely unique. With 100% Texas roots from farm to bottle, BLK EYE is the first vodka crafted by hand from black-eyed peas. Every bottle doubles as a showcase for an original Texas artist, and $1 from every bottle purchased goes back into supporting the local arts community. We set out to take the fine art of distilling in an all-new direction and the result is a smooth-tasting stroke of genius. At BlackEyed Distilling Co., we just believe an ultra-premium experience should be evident from the first sip. 2017 Global Spirit Awards Double Gold Medal and Best Traditional Vodka Winner.

Chadra Mezza & Grill is a lifelong labor of love for owner and chef, Nehme Elbitar, and his wife Christina. Named in honor of his hometown, Chadra, Lebanon, it offers an exceptional sampling of Mediterranean cuisine, in addition to delicious pastas and piz-zas. Chadra Mezza offers two outdoor patios, private event space and full-service catering. Having received numerous awards granted by various entities and publica-tions, Chadra Mezza represents a dining mainstay in the Near Southside. This is hardly surprising. After all, community is, according to the Elbitars, “their main ingre-dient.”

Each September, HFW celebrates the connection between art and architecture through the talent of studio artists at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center because studio artists are part of the culture of great cities. This year’s honoree is Gene Owens and the featured artist is Devon Nowlin. The acquisition cost of each painting includes a charitable contribution to HFW to help keep two other works of art open to the public, McFarland House (1899) and Thistle Hill (1904).
