Military Culture 101

Maine Military and Community Network (MMCN) provides training to civilian behavioral health providers. A typical training uses the following outline: •Military 101 is an introduction to the culture of the military: CH Gibson•The Military Deployment Cycle and its Effects on Families: MFLC•Panel of Military members: Director of Psychological Health (DPH) facilitates (with usually four Soldiers and Airmen)•Overview of Combat Operational Stress, PTSD, & TBI: DPH •Suicide Awareness, Prevention and Intervention: TOGUS VA or MENG Representative•Strategies for Providers: COL Mike Pooler
