Light, easy-to-handle formwork for pillars and small walls

Metal-only formwork system offering a resistance of 35 kNw/m2, with a maximum deformation for this pressure level of under 3 mm.

MULTIPORPOSE PANELS

The LIGHT RANGE panels have holes punched in them, so that each panel can be used to erect pillars of different widths. Depending on the panel width, they can be used for both square and rectangular pillars, with si-des measuring between 250 mm and 700 mm, with 50 mm increments (4 panel assembly; see table).

The 600 and 750 mm wide panels are known as the REINFORCED LIGHT RANGE, because they are suitably reinforced in line with the resistance they have to offer.

STANDARD MEASUREMENTS

Standard heights: 3.000/2.700/2.600/1.500/1.250 mm. (may be combined for greater heights).

Standard widths: See table.

THE ADVANTAGES OF THE COFRESA LIGHT RANGE

1) SECURED BY BOLT + WOODRUFF KEY (FLAT KEY ON WALLS) Very simple and quick to put in place. Key fixed securely on bolt. Key inexpensive to replace.

2) ROUNDED EDGESThe reinforcement provided by the series of holes is rounded, and is therefore easy to keep clean.

3) SYMMETRICAL PANEL The distance from the upper bolt to the edge of the panel is the same as the distance from the lower bolt to the edge of the panel.

Rang

e

The simplest way to erect vertical concrete structures, with a minimum of parts and accessories for easier assembly and control. This is a complete, metal-only range with low maintenance costs, ideal for high-speed work.

SCREEN

The formwork screens in the Heavy Range con-sist of a metal frame, to which a 3 mm thick steel sheet is welded. The profiles which make up the frame of the screen have a groove running along the whole of the inner rim of the frame, so that screens with clamps can be joined quickly, safely and with no need for fixed positioning (screens on ground of different levels can be joined toge-ther).

STANDARD MEASUREMENTS

Standard heights: 3.000/1.500/1.000 mm.Standard widths: 2.400, 1000, 900, 800, 700, 600, 500, 400, 300, 200 mm.

CAST IRON CORNER

To extend the life of the screen, a cast iron cornerpiece is used instead of forming corners by welding together the profiles of the frame at an angle. This cornerpiece has a recess, so that a bar can be inserted to plumb, move or remove the formwork without damaging the frame of the screen.

The resistance of the Heavy Range is 70 kNw/m2, with a maximum deformation for this pressure level of under 3 mm.

JOINING SCREENS: HEAVY RANGE FIXED CLAMP

The Heavy Range fixed clamp is the piece which brings together, aligns and joins two screens quickly, with a hammer blow to the wedge. To release, simply hit in the opposite direction to the wedge. Guarantees fast, safe assembly, and allows any layout (there is no fixed joint, as the joint is along the groove made in the frame for this purpose).

The Heavy Range extendable clamp is used when there is another component between the screens to be joined together (connec- ting profile, wood, etc.). Its opening and closing system uses a spindle, and can accommodate measurements between 50 mm. and 230 mm. approx.

The Heavy Range short extendable corner clamp is designed to join internal corners, and therefore has only one arm.

The Heavy Range clamps are different from those of the Cofenol Range, so although they can also be used with the Cofenol Range if attached outside the profile (providing less alignment), it is advisable to use the correct clamp in each Range.

OTHER JOINING COMPONENTS: DYWIDAG + NUT

Thanks to the side holes lining in all 4 sides of the screens, they can be joined together using a 15.5 mm. dia-meter Dywidag bar and a hexagonal nut. Although this type of joint is cheaper than a clamp joint, three times as many joints are needed, they are slower to make, and they do not align the screens.

TENSIONERS FOR BOTH SIDES OF WALL

For walls with formwork on both sides, a 15.5 mm. diameter Dywidag bar must be placed across the wall, with a 95 mm. pad nut.

SOLUTIONS FOR CORNERS

With internal angles either fixed at 90° or hinged (between 70° and 150°), and fixed or hinged external angles, we can provide solutions for almost any corner that may be required on site.

SPACERS

For spacing in a wall of a required length, a connecting profile can be placed between the screens if the space is a multiple of 50 mm. This must be atta-ched using an extendable clamp or a Dywidag bar and hexagonal nut.

For spaces between 100 and 400 mm., a spacer sheet is used (variable measurement: can be adjusted millimetre by millimetre). Stiffeners must be attached for correct use.

SAFETY AT HEIGHTS

Using the work bracket and the parapet, we can construct a 700 mm. walkway at the edge of the formwork. This provides access to work areas, and the safety neces-sary to work at heights.

HOISTING TOOL

Hoisting tools are the accessories needed to handle the formwork safely using cranes. Sheets of for-mwork measuring more than 12 square metres should not be lifted. The thread must be inserted into the hole for safety.

WALL BRACED ON ONE SIDE

To make one-sided walls both safely and quickly, there are braces measuring 3, 4 and 6 metres high. These braces (which are the same as the Light and Cofenol Series) must be used with the screens in horizontal po-sition, fitting four braces for every three linear metres of formwork, so they form one single body that can be moved as a block to the concrete work. If the screens have to be fitted vertically, due to site needs, Cofresa stiffeners will have to be placed horizontally between the screens and the braces, respecting the proportion of 4 braces for every 3 linear metres of formwork.

The braces have been calculated and designed to guarantee the same resistance limits as the rest of the heavy series (70 KNw/m2 with 3mm maximum warping). However, and as the design has only been calculated for assem-bly with Cofresa formwork, the braces must be exclusively used in Cofresa formwork systems as correct functioning is not gua-ranteed with other makes of screens. The 6-metre brace is comprised of two 3-metre high bodies, which can be mounted independently to form 3-metre walls (see photo).

SCREEN FOR PILLAR WALL

These have a series of holes which can be used to combine 600 and 1000 mm screens to construct concrete pillars from 250 mm to any multiple of 50 mm (the 600 screen gives us 250-450 mm, while the 1.000 screen gives us 500-850 mm). The joint is made using a pillar hook, Dywidag bar and 95 mm pad nut (see detail).

These screens are fully compatible with the Heavy Range for wall construction.

The simplest way to erect vertical concrete structures, with a minimum of parts and accessories for easier assembly and control. Its phenolic wood panel can be replaced when necessary. The Cofenol Range shares all the accessories of the Heavy Range, apart from clamps. This means that the two ranges can be combined.

SCREEN

The Cofenol Range formwork screens consist of a metal frame, to which a 15 mm. thick phenolic panel is fixed. The profiles which make up the frame of the screen are designed by Cofresa, and have a groove running along the who-le of the inner rim the frame, so that screens with clamps can be joined quickly, safely and with no need for fixed positioning (screens on ground of different levels can be joined together).

The resistance of Cofenol Range is 50 kNw/m2, with a maximum deformation for this pressure level of under 3 mm.

A metal system for girders and flat floor structures. Only two types of part + board. Very safe, simple and fast, as no bolts or pins are required. For 27 mm. thick board (970 x 500 x 27 mm. or 100 x 500 x 27 mm.).

SYSTEM COMPONENTS: SHORING PROFILE

This profile has a dual function: it both shores the structure and supports the boards. The jo-ints between the profiles are tongue and gro-ove, guaranteeing complete safety with no need for bolts or pins.

STANDARD MEASUREMENTS

Profile lenght: 3.000/1.500/1.500 mm. extendable shoring profile.Profile width: 110 mm.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS: DISTRIBUTION PROFILE

The distribution profile is the part which de-termines the path width of the shoring profile. The profile has U components welded to it, in the quantity necessary to work with 970 mm. or 1.000 mm. wide board.

The joints between the profiles are tongue and groove, guaranteeing high safety. The tongue and groove joint is made by inserting the ton-gue into the groove, which means that the pro-files must be positioned with the groove facing inwards. There are distribution profiles with U components at both ends, called “starter” profi-les, which can be used in situations where com-ponents may not project past the outline of the storey.

DISTRIBUTION OF PROFILES & ASSEMBLY FOR FLAT FLOOR STRUCTURE

The profiles of the system form a grid, as the shoring profile is always placed perpendicular to the distribu-tion profile.

The board-bearing shoring profiles are placed on top of the distribution profiles, forming paths approximately 1 metre wide. The distribution profiles are placed under-neath the shoring profiles and perpendicular to them, approximately every 3 metres. When the formwork is removed, all distribution profiles and boards are reco-

vered. Of the board-bearing shoring profiles, one row is recovered and the next is left, which means that approximately half of them are recovered (unless it is felt that more need to be left in place, due to cons-truction needs). The most convenient and safest way to assemble the system is always to begin by securing a distribution profile to a pillar of the perimeter. This ensures that the whole system has a stable, secure anchoring point. Next, place another distribution profile parallel to the first, approximately 2.9 m. away from it, and place the board-bearing shoring profiles on them as shown in the picture. The rest of the storey must be assembled by positioning first the board-bearing shoring profiles, and then the distribution profiles un-derneath.

CONCRETE POURING & REMOVAL OF FORMWORK

7 days after it is poured, the concrete has already rea-ched 65% of the resistance it will have 28 days after being poured (which is the maximum according to ISO regula-tions). Practice has shown that in general, for normal (ne-ver extreme) temperature and humidity levels, formwork can be removed after 72 hours, leaving the storey shored (all boards and distribution profiles, and half the shoring profiles, can be recovered). As the structure is not yet loaded when the storey is left shored (it is supporting only its own weight), while the various components (all boards and distribution profiles, and half the shoring profiles) are being removed and transferred to the upper part, and as-sembly of formwork for the next storey is begun (this is when the storey is considered loaded), at least 4 or 5 days will have passed (7 since the concrete was poured), and 65% of the resistance needed to concrete the upper sto-rey will have been achieved.

RESTRUTTING

One of the advantages of this system is that it needs no “restrutting”. There are many systems on the market with which struts need to be removed from certain parts when the storey is left shored, so that they can be placed at other parts which have not yet been strutted. The problem arises due to the risk of internal fissures in the floor structure, and the consequent danger of the storey collapsing. To avoid this problem, the only solution with these other systems is to strut all the lugs. This requi-res a large number of struts, and more impor-tantly tends to leave the storey impassable due to the maze of struts. With the Cofresa Floor Structures system, after all the struts have been put in place the storey is neat and pas-sable, with paths approximately 1 metre wide (see photo). Also, when the storey is left shored there is no need to restrut any other parts, and the storey is ultimately left with paths approxi-mately 2 metres wide.

PERIMETER BOUNDARY

The perimeter boundary is a good solution for closing off the perimeter of the storey conveniently and quic-kly. The Cofresa model is manufactured with square panels which provide greater rigidity. In addition, these are easy to join together, as they have tongues and grooves.

In order for any perimeter boundary to function correctly, it must be correctly anchored to the board using bolts. Do not use any components other than bolts for this, as they will not pro-vide sufficient anchorage.

Standard heights: 300 mm., 350 mm.Standard lengths: 2.000 mm., 1.000 mm. There is an “extendable” boundary which provides formwork for between 10 and 950 mm.
