STRUCTURE
The S.E.S. (Structural Equivalency Spreadsheet) and I.A.D. (Impact Attenuator Datasheet)
for both the events, at Germany and Czech Republic, were submitted by the team. The
preliminary design of the 2014 chassis (above) was completed. The design of the seat
and under-tray was also finalized.
VEHICLE DYNAMICS
New master cylinders and calipers were bought by the team this month. The design and
analysis of the front and rear hub for the wheel assembly of the 2014 car was also done.
This time the front hub is a single piece. The team is trying to manufacture the brake
pedal by themselves. The custom brake disc for the FM X3 (above) has been
manufactured and is ready to be tested.

Ready, Set, Go! March was a month of action for Formula Manipal, for we witnessed the
first run of FMX3, our latest car! FMX3 ran for the first time on the 7th of March, followed
by two more runs in the coming days. The car is holding itself pretty well and the team
reflects a sense of pride in flaunting their latest embodiment of success.
In the mean while, the team is nearing the completion of the design phase of its 2014 car.

ELECTRONICS
Many methods of approach were tried for the dynamic pneumatic testing and time
controlled programming was found to be more reliable than feedback programming in
the same. A new dash board was also made with the display unit integrated on it. The
pneumatic PCB was designed this month. The team is now working on the data
acquisition code and LabView display code for the 7 segment display (above).

A new radiator (above) was received from our proud sponsor BEHR India this month.
The new intake manifold received from our sponsor Imaginarium (India) Pvt. Ltd. was
assembled and mounted on the car for testing. The study on CFD (Computational Fluid
Dynamics) of the radiator for the 2014 car was done by the team. The mounts for the fuel
rails were cut in Bangalore. Furthermore, the preliminary CAD model of the intake
manifold and external routing of the dry sump was also completed.
Dynamic pneumatic testing on the car was done for the first time in the history of
Formula Manipal this month. The team is planning to replace the hollow shafts with solid
ones, so that the twisting they undergo is reduced. The team is currently working on the
design of the stub axle (above), scatter shield, sprocket and differential mount for the
2014 car. This is the first season in which the team is planning to make aluminium stub
axles, which are lighter in weight than their steel counterpart.
