CODESCodes are a system of signs that create meaning & types of codes. 2 types of codes Symbolic- shows what is beneath the surface of what we see.

Technical- the camera work in a film.

Conventions are the generally accepted ways of doing something.

Thematic Elements:

A thriller is meant to be enigmatic, tension-creating and exciting. They promote moods, e.g. high level of anticipation, adrenaline rush, arousal, uncertainty, anxiety. Tones in thrillers are usually gritty, slick and lurid.

What is a thriller?

It uses suspense, tension and excitement. Uses mystery, crime, psychological, political and paranoia. Atmosphere of a thriller can be menace, violence, crime and murder,In a thriller society is seen as dark, corrupt and dangerous.Can include plot twists and cliff hangers.The tension usually rises when a character is placed in a threatening situation, or in a predicament where escaping seems impossible.
