FORMER CEO OF ACT INVESTS IN IOWA STARTUP AIMED AT REVOLUTIONIZING EDUCATION

Iowa City, IA - Higher Learning Technologies, the award winning creator of four top grossing educational apps, and named by Inc.Magazine as one of the startups to watch in the the Midwest, is pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Ferguson, former CEO of ACT has joined the company’s growing list of investors. Dr. Ferguson will also serve as a key member of HLT’s executive board.

A Rockstar in the Educational Community Joins HLT

Throughout his career, Ferguson has ad-vocated for education through his service on nu-merous national boards, including the American Council on Education, the American Association of Community Colleges, Scholarship America, the Hunt Institute for Education Policy and Leader-ship, and the Business Higher Education Forum. The latter a national group of university presidents and corprate CEOs committed to strengthening the nation’s educational and workforce system.

Dr. Fergson is recognized throughout the world as a leader and trailblazer in the ed-ucation and workforce development. Having joined ACT in 1972, he became CEO in 1988, a position that he held until his retirement in 2010. During his time as CEO and Chairman, ACT grew from 150 to more than 1400 employ-ees. That growth reflected ACT’s emergence as the leading college admissions program in the country.
