2.5 Feedback from KVK to Research SystemName of KVK Feedback

Deogarh In rice based cropping system varieties of crops should be screened by trials for high profitability.

More potato varieties should taken in trial for screening for kharif and rabi season in north western plateau zone

condition.

More IPM technology should be taken in trial for control of fruit sucking moth in sweet orange.

Alternate substrate substitution should be taken in trial for paddy straw mushroom cultivation.

Variety and amount of Azolla should be standardized as supportive diary feed for increase in milk production.

Sieve structure and size of hanging type grain cleaner should be modified for different grain size.

4.2. Feedback from KVK to Research System.Name of KVK Feedback basic of OFT on Technology Tested

Deogarh Chemical weed management in kharif green gram was highly accepted by the farmers but timely availability of herbicides

is the concern.

Rice-onion, rice potato cropping system was accepted by the famers which increased the profitability upto 40%.

Moe potato varieties should taken in trial for screening for kharif and rabi season in North western plateau zone condition

Bait application technology was accepted by the farmers for control of fruit sucking moth in sweet orange because of low

cost and simple technology

Seed treatment and drenching of soil in onion to control damping off was accepted by farmers because it is easy and less

expensive

IPM to control fruit borer in tomato was accepted by farmers but timely availability of boi-agents is the concern.

Farmwomen readily accepted the different strains of paddy straw mushroom cultivation due to high

profitability ,productivity and simple technology

By regular use of Azolla the milk yield increased upto 20-25%.

Farmwomen frequently use hanging type grain cleaner as it is reduces drudgery and increase efficiency

Rainbow rooster, Vanraja and Red Cornish birds are highly acceptable by farming community.

TITLE – GOATERY: A BOON FOR LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT

Introduction Smt. Sulochana Kishan a young ST women entrepreneur of Kenduchhapal village. Her village Kenduchhapal belongs to Tileibani block. 20

Kms. away from Deogarh town. Three years back she was rearing only two male and three female goats of local breed. Because of poor management of livestock she could not generated expected income. Inspite of maximum involvement in agricultural activities she was unable to satisfy her basic family needs.

With inspiration of ICDS she started to organised 13 poor landless women and form a SHG named as Mother Teresa SHG and she became the secretary of that group. Her group received 2.5 lakh rupees loan from bank and started rearing improved variety of goats like Black Bengal and Sirohi etc. Presently Sulochona has 50 Nos. improved variety of goats.Intervention

KVK Deogarh has recognized her potentiality and empowered her by providing training, demonstration on improved goat rearing practices like deworming, vaccinations, feeding management and supplementation of multi vitamins and minerals with the help of State veterinary Department.

OutputTimely deworming , vaccination and routine check up lower down the mortality and morbidity rate and thereby increasing the growth and

body weight of goats. She usually sells the castrated goat for Rs. 6000/-, uncastrated for Rs. 2500/- and the female for Rs. 3500/-. Her annual net income now comes to Rs. 50, 000.00 whereas her cost of rearing of goat is Rs. 6000.00 only. Outcome

Her success inspired other landless women of her village and they also adopted this venture for their livelihood sustainability.Impact

65

Her success story on goatry rearing came beyond her village boundary. The Tileibani block BDO, Central team of OLM, Chief executive of DSMS, Deogarh has visited her unit and appreciated her will power. Her success was also placed in ICAR website. Many more women SHGs have started following her path for goatry rearing commercially.

38. Well labeled Photographs for each activity of the KVK (Soft copies as well as hard copy- specially for all OFT along with the problem) –

Assessment of potato varieties in rice - potato cropping system

(Problem:- Low productivity (100 q/ha) in the existing potato variety Lal

Patani )

Assessment of suitable rice-based cropping pattern in NWPACZ(Problem:- Rice-greengram is the

only predominant cropping system of the Zone although the climatic condition is conducive to adopt

different rice based cropping system in the zone)

Assessment of case worm and leaf folder management in rice

(Problem:- Reduced yield of rice up to 30% due to larval feeding on the

foliage by scrapping chlorophyll and leaf tips are sharply cut off )

Assessment of management fruit borer in tomato

(Problem:- Larvae feed on tender foliage, bore circular holes on fruits

and eat the inner content which reduces the marketability and the

consumption of the fruit )

Assessment of different onion varieties in kharif season

Assessment of azolla as a supportive feed for milch cow

Assessment of drudgery of hanging grain cleaner

Assessment of suitable poultry breed in backyard rearing

66

(Problem:- Low yield and return for upland rice cultivation)

(Problem:- Low milk yield and economic return due to protein deficiency and high cost feed

production.)

(Problem:- High drudgery involved in cleaning of grain manually, high

pressure in shoulder)

(Problem:- Low body weight of the desi bird fetched less market price

due to low productivity)
