Instructions to Teacher

1. Greet each student with the warm-up task. This part of the examination is not assessed, as its purpose is to help the candidate be at ease and gain more confidence in speaking.

2. Each candidate is given two tasks.3. At the end of the exercise, the examiner thanks the student for his/her performance.

Task 1

Ask the candidate six questions from the list in Task 1, which the candidate can relate to.

Make sure that the candidate is engaged in conversation for long enough (approximately

3 minutes) to enable you to make an accurate and fair assessment of his/her speaking skills.

Task 2

Text 1: Listen to Matt talking about an amazing film called Iron Man.

Tony Stark is an engineer and he works for his father at Stark Industries, in America. Pepper Potts

is his young secretary. Tony has got a special metal suit. When he has it on, he becomes Iron Man.

Iron Man can fly. He is strong and he can protect the world from bad people. Mighty Sam is very

bad. He is Iron Man’s enemy. He always tries to destroy things in the big cities. He also makes

good children cry when they are playing outside their houses. Can Iron Man stop him? Can Pepper

potts help Iron Man? Watch this amazing film and find out!

Text 2: Listen to Victoria talking about her holidays abroad.

I think holidays are wonderful and always lots of fun. You can spend some time away from home

having fun in the sun. You can take photographs and do some shopping too. You can buy some

souvenirs to take back home with you. I got caps from Italy and a mug from the UK. I’ve got dolls

from India and pens from the USA. I also have hats from Mexico, a T-shirt from England, a stuffed

toy from Australia and a mug from Russia too!
