Dear Colleague,

This is one of the most exciting times in the history of Novelis, and I welcome you to the team. Today, we begin a journey to shape this company – our company – into the defining leader of the aluminum industry. Today we begin “Forging Ahead Together.”

As part of this journey, we will accelerate our growth, while strengthening our strong traditions of safety, innovation, quality and customer partnership. In doing so, we will deliver more value to our customers, our employees and the communities where we live and work - all while delivering on the Novelis Purpose of “Shaping a Sustainable World Together.”

Our integration teams have done an excellent job preparing us for today; yet the work has only just begun. As we start to integrate our culture, processes and systems, it is important to recognize that this is no small task and we’re likely to feel some growing pains along the way.

To help support your personal transition and success as a Novelis employee, this guide provides a starting point of things you need to know about the new Novelis. If you have other questions, please ask your manager, your HR business partner, or reference the integration page on InsideNovelis.

The months ahead will be fast-paced, yet professionally invigorating, as we work to build the new Novelis.

It is a tremendous honor to lead this company-especially at this point in our history-and l look forward to seeing all that we will accomplish together.

Regards,

Forging Ahead Together

Steve FisherPresident and Chief Executive Officer, Novelis Inc.

Day 1: What You Need to Know

General Company Information

• The safety of our employees and those in our facilities is paramount.

• The Ethics hotline(s) for each company remains the same and will continue to be active.

• The company name is Novelis.

• Going forward, all branding materials should use the Novelis name and adhere to the Novelis brand guidelines. These can be found on InsideNovelis (Path: Our Company > Branding).

• Aleris operates as a subsidiary of Novelis.

– With this legal entity structure, the Aleris name/logo will be used on legal documentation (such as invoices, purchase orders (POs) and other official documents).

• The company’s fiscal year is April 1 through March 31.

• InsideNovelis is the official company intranet and the source for company news and information. Aleris employees will still have access to AL and its links to various tools and systems will remain accessible for the time being.

In order to make Day 1 a seamless experience, we are minimizing the number of changes employees will experience on this day and in the initial time we are together as one company.

This will make the transition period as seamless as possible. As changes do happen, they will be shared with you well in advance and in a thoughtful manner.

Here are a few things that are important for you to know:

Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)

• Novelis is committed to providing safe working conditions for all employees, contractors and visitors. As part of this commitment, Novelis has in place critical procedures (or absolutes) for life safety – called the Safety Absolutes.

– The Safety Absolutes will stay in place and should continue to be followed throughout legacy Novelis sites.

– Over time, we will roll out the Safety Absolutes to Aleris sites.

– Aleris sites should continue to follow their previously established safety prosses until directed otherwise.

• Safety and environmental incidents and near misses should continue to be reported as they were prior to today.

• Employees who currently receive incident reports will also receive reports from the other company.

• The Novelis definitions for EHS incidents will be rolled out to Aleris as soon as possible. These are:

– Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIFs)

– Days Away From Work (DAFW)

– Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)

– Minor Environmental Incident (MEI)

Day 1: What You Need to Know (Cont.)

Human Resources (HR)

Unless specifically noted below, existing HR policies, systems, programs, collective bargaining agreements, company agreements and employee offerings (such as benefits and holiday schedules) remain unchanged at both legacy companies at this time. If you have any questions, please reach out to your HR business partner.

The items listed below are impacted now or will be in the near future:

• All employees will have the ability to apply for open posted positions in both Novelis and Aleris locations (excluding those in Duffel, Lewisport and Madison Heights). If you see a role you are interested in, speak with your HR business partner on how to apply.

Rewards & Recognition

Both companies take pride in recognizing outstanding contributions to the business and do so through various award programs.

• The Aleris Recognition program and system, AL*, will continue to be available to Aleris employees as it is today.

• Other Aleris corporate rewards and recognition programs, such as the Chairman’s and Safety awards, will be replaced by existing Novelis and Aditya Birla Group programs. For more information about Novelis’ rewards and recognition programs, visit InsideNovelis (Path: About Us > Culture > Rewards & Recognition).

• All existing plant- and regional-based rewards and recognition programs remain as-is for the foreseeable future.

Travel & Expenses (T&E)

• All company credit cards (T&E cards, purchasing cards, etc.) will continue to work as they did prior to the close of the acquisition.

• Existing T&E systems will remain in place for both Novelis and Aleris employees until further notice.

Information Technology (IT)

Unless specifically noted below, existing IT systems and logon credentials, as well as IT services and processes remain in place at both legacy companies and should continue to be followed. If you need access to a system on the other legacy company’s network, you can request this through your existing IT Help Desk.

For questions, please reach out to your local IT contact.

Here are the items you need to know about at this time:

• When Aleris employees send an email to someone outside of the company (including to Novelis employees), it will appear in the recipient’s Inbox as being from the @novelis.adityabirla.com domain. However, when the recipient replies to the email, it will come back to the sender’s @aleris.com domain.

• In the near future, IT will merge the @aleris.com and @novelis.aditybirla.com domains into a single mailbox. At this time, all @Aleris.com emails will be retained and remain visible in your mailbox.

• The Global Address Book in Outlook will include all email addresses from both companies.* With this, you will be able to view calendar availability for employees from both legacy companies for use in scheduling meetings.

• Employees will continue to use their existing Instant Messaging system (Jabber for Novelis; Skype for Aleris), but will now be able to message individuals from the other company using their respective system.

• Employees should continue to use their existing web conferencing platform (WebEx for Novelis; Skype for Aleris).

• Employees from both companies will be able to access the other company’s intranet and SharePoint sites.

Miscellaneous

• Only officers or authorized signatories of the company can sign contracts. For questions on who the officers are for your business, please contact your Legal representative.

• All existing contracts remain in place on Day 1.

* Will not include employees in Duffel, Lewisport and Madison Heights

Everything we do at Novelis starts with safety. It is this commitment to protecting our people that has led us to industry-leading safety performance. The Novelis Safety System provides a systematic approach to identifying, managing and mitigating risks in our operations. With this system, all Novelis team members are charged with looking out for their own safety, as well as that of their colleagues.

Safety Above All

Novelis has established seven critical procedures for life safety. We call these the Safety Absolutes.

Safety Absolutes

Watch this video to learn more about the importance of the Safety Absolutes to Novelis.

Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO) Employees must achieve a zero-energy state and secure against re-start before performing maintenance or working on equipment.

Machine Safeguarding Machine safeguarding devices or systems shall not be removed, defeated or bypassed. Equipment with inoperable or defective machine safeguarding shall not be operated.

Mobile Equipment & Pedestrian Safety Only trained, certified and/or licensed employees may operate mobile equipment; and only if all safety features are operable and the load does not obstruct the operator’s view. Operators must follow all procedures prior to dismounting. Operators and pedestrians must be aware of one another to ensure safe interaction.

Confined Space Entry Entry into a permit required confined space shall be made only when issued a written permit that indicates that all specified safety conditions are met.

Cranes & Lifting Equipment Safety Only trained, certified and/or licensed employees may operate cranes and only if all safety features are operable and the load does not obstruct the operator’s view. Operators shall not take a suspended load over a person and pedestrians shall not walk under a load suspended by a crane.

Safety Above All

Our Pledge to Safety

I will work safely.

I will intervene if I see somebody working unsafe.

I will stop any unsafe behavior if intervened upon.

At Novelis, we set safety goals and track our progress against the following Key Performane Indicators (KPIs):

• Serious Injury or Fatality (SIF): An injury that results in a life-threatening or life-altering injury, including a permanent disability or death.

• Days Away From Work (DAFW): An injury in which the employee is unable to work the following day.

• Recordable Injury: An injury that requires medical treatment beyond first aid.

• Environment Incident Rate: A one-time environmental release resulting in minor damage to any wildlife, natural habitat or neighboring community with temporary impacts and total restoration occurring in a very short period and/or an exceedance against regulatory established limits, permit conditions, operational parameters or reporting deadlines.

These KPIs will be rolled out to Aleris sites as soon as possible.

Shaping a Sustainable World

Together

Our Purpose

At Novelis, we’re passionate about aluminum and bringing the benefits of our amazing material to the world. That’s why we have spent time defining why we exist as a company and the meaning behind what we do. Or, in other words, our Purpose.

This Purpose provides us with a common understanding of who we are and what we stand for as an organization. It guides our strategic decision-making, as well as our day-to-day activities.

Purpose is the reason we do what we do and the core of who we are as Novelis. It’s what gets us energized to come to work each and every day.

Understanding Our Purpose

Shaping

Shaping means to form, make or model. From cans to cars to planes, when Novelis shapes aluminum, we shape innovations that move us forward.

Together

When we work together and build on our collective intelligence, we are capable of shaping a world that sustains us all.

By reducing pollution, lessening the dependency on limited natural resources, and promoting social and economic mobility, we help sustain the world.

What does sustainability mean to Novelis?

We are an organization where people can stay for their entire career.
