Forest and Fin

FOREST and FIN products weave animal imagery into
everday apparel to reflect the beauty of the natural world that
surrounds us. Each design is hand-drawn and hand-screened
in order to give the clothing a familiar, yet unique aesthetic.
We use waterbased, non-toxic ink that dyes the fabric,
maintaining the soft texture of the garment. This is a guide to
our current list of available designs. Please understand that the
shirts depicted are mockups, meaning that they are similar to,
but not an exact replica of the garments that will be for sale.
Open your consciousness to the natural world, and you will be rewarded.

In 2009, creator Lara Neece moved onto an old Chris Craft sailboat and decided to become an artist. In the years that followed, she and her partner, Brian Young, renovated their 37’ sailboat Illusion, sailed up and down the Eastern Seaboard of the United States, and explored the islands of the Bahamas. Utilizing as much wind and solar energy as they needed, they cut back on their water usage and transformed this unique mode of transportation into a lifestyle.
In the beginning, Lara hand-printed her silk-screen designs onto organic apparel in order to share her inspiration with friends and family. Now Forest and Fin is proud to celebrate active, sustainable living; the appreciation of nature; and outdoor adventure with a simple, yet elegant aesthetic. Each design is a footprint in the sand, reflecting our interactions with the natural world and following the tracks of our story. But above all we aim to inspire. We spent hours sailing, alone on Currituck
Sound, surrounded by hunting ospreys and nests
full of their half-grown offspring.

Daylight illuminated the banks to my right but cast shadows to my left; the
rising sun blinded me between silhouettes of dark trees.

We retraced our original track to find the setting sun had turned orange, sitting low
on the horizon; it filled our vision as we paddled back to the boat.

Sometimes it’s easy to get carried away here — or maybe even a little bit lost.
You could imagine that you are the first to set your foot in this exact spot, that even
though this island was discovered hundreds of years ago, that you are seeing it just as
it looked the first time.

The afternoon light turned sea grass to gold and formed halos above back-lit pines.
Beyond the lighthouse, another wooden path lead us across a grassy field to a sandy
road of criss-crossed tire tracks before traversing the dunes, a gateway to the beach.
