Careers Student Involvement Scholarships Forensic Accounting Minor The forensic accounting minor at Indiana State University provides the necessary professional expertise that is fraud ex- amination and financial forensics. The studentsknowledge and skills are developed from best practices in forensic ac- counting, financial forensics and the prevention, deterrence, detection, investigation, and remediation of fraud. This mi- nor is open to all majors. The forensic accounting minor will appeal to criminology majors interested in a career in de- terring money laundering and white collar crime as well as Scott College of Business majors who are interested in being able to detect and prevent fraud. For accounting majors, fraud examination is an inherent part of the audit function, and this minor provides specialized knowledge and tools. The forensic accounng minor at ISU prepares students for the CFE (Cerfied Fraud Examiner) cerficaon, which includes the topics of : Beta Alpha Psi, the naonal professional fraternity for financial informaon professionals, is acve on campus and in the community. Through this fraternity students parcipate in community service, network with industry professionals, and aend workshops. Extensive professional development opportunies are available to students free of charge through ISUs Meis Center. Qualified students can parcipate in paid opportunies to mentor other students through the Sco Col- lege of Business supplemental instrucon program. The minor in forensic accounting is a joint partnership with the department of criminology. The minor consists of eight-

een hours (6 courses), 4 courses in accounting and 2 courses in criminology. It is open to all majors on campus. The mi-

nor in forensic accounting is a combination of web-based and face-to-face courses.

Amber Williams Swain

is currently a staff ac-

countant at Dauby O’Con-

nor & Zaleski, a public

accounting firm, where

she performs audits of

financial institutions, manufacturing fa-

cilities, and employee benefit plans. Wil-

liams was awarded the Indiana CPA Soci-

ety’s Outstanding Accounting Major

Award in 2008. In addition to an ac-

counting major, Williams also minored

in forensic accounting and marketing,

graduating in 2008.

CPA Group. Previously,

Khatadia worked as an

global accounting firm. He graduated

from ISU in 2006 with a major in ac-

counting and minor in forensic ac-

counting and his MBA in 2009.

Professor Sacopulos has experience in public accounting, having worked

for KPMG in the St. Louis office and PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Wash-

ington, DC office, both Big 4 global accounting firms. She also has experi-

ence in transactional and corporate law, having represented clients in

mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions. For 16 years, Pro-

fessor Sacopulos served as general counsel and secretary of the university

for Indiana State University, where in addition to other duties, she led the

internal audit and compliance functions at the university. She brings a

well-rounded, practical perspective to the topic of forensic accounting.
