What happens if a single book convenes a
group of ten Harry Potter experts?
You’ll obtain a kaleidoscope: ten different
colours and tastes, mingled according to
an uncommon (and unpublished) formula:
an anthology of short essays.
Like Harry’s jelly beans, these essays will
tickle every palate: an outlook from the
dark Shadows of the saga to the power of
mother figures, from the investigation on
the alchemic secrets to the naturalistic
approach, from the presence of different
kinds of humour to the comparison of the
world’s books covers, to family and
friendship patterns, and much more.

Fifteen years after the first Harry Potter book
was published and after many essays and
studies, is it still possible to write something
new about the saga?
Surely it is, due to its richness.
Though Harry Potter has already been studied
from the philosophical and scientific point of
view and as a literary, cinematographic and
media phenomenon, this is the first book that
analyses the supernatural material of the saga,
its historical, anthropological, folkloric,
mythological and metaphysical matrix.

What Dementors, Tom Riddle’s diary
and Ford Anglias have to do with J.K.
Rowling’s life?
What criminal profile is buried under
Voldemort’s passion for Horcruxes?
What symbology may be hidden
behind the Triwizard Tournament?
What kind of lawsuits the little wizard
has faced, once launched into the
Muggle world?
But, most of all, what made Harry
Potter the current most popular saga in
the world? A great concept? The
skillful suggestion of archetypal
themes, well rooted into mythology,
fairy tales and our unconscious? Or
maybe a big dream, whose roots are
deep seated into J.K.Rowling’s
childhood, which managed to stay
uncorrupted in spite of the physical
and psychological adversities suffered
before success knocked at the door?
