Forcibly Software Loading Procedure

Starting the Site Maintenance Terminal System
Before starting the Site Maintenance Terminal, firstly, set the IP address of the Site Maintenance Terminal
PC; secondly, connect the Site Maintenance Terminal PC to the BTS; finally, log in to the Site Maintenance
Terminal.
Setting the IP Address of the Site Maintenance Terminal PC
1. Windows XP operating system as an example. On the Windows XP operating system, choose Start >
Control Panel.
2. Select Network Connections. A dialog box is displayed. Right-click the Local Area Connection icon.
3. Choose Properties on the shortcut menu,. The Local Area Connection Properties dialog box is
displayed.
4. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
5. Click Properties. The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box is displayed.
6. Select Use the following IP address.
7. Enter the correct IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway. Ensure that the IP address of the Site
Maintenance Terminal PC and the IP address (192.168.0.72/255.255.255.0) of the BTS are located in the
same network segment, so that a local maintenance path can be set up.
8. Click OK to complete the setting.

Locally Logging In to the BTS
We can run the Site Maintenance Terminal to directly log in to the BTS.
Prerequisites
• The Site Maintenance Terminal PC is connected properly to the BTS.
• The Site Maintenance Terminal PC is installed with the latest site maintenance terminal software.
Procedure
1. Double-click btsm.exe to start the Site Maintenance Terminal System.
If the communication between the Site Maintenance Terminal PC and the BTS is not set up, the
Communication failed dialog box is displayed, as shown in figure.
2. Click Yes. The Set Communication Port Parameter dialog box is displayed, as shown in figure
3. In the Select Communication Port area, click Network Port. In the Configure IP area, set the IP address
to 192.168.0.72.

4. Click OK. The Site Maintenance Terminal System window is displayed, as shown in Figure
5. On the Site Maintence Terminal System, choose User and then Login. Enter User Name (Omc by
default) and User Password (omc by default) to log in.

6. In maintenance console, select the BTS to be maintained, and then press F5. A box for entering the
operation passwords appears at the top of the window. Enter cf + hours (24 hour). If the current time of the
system is 14:32, enter cf14. If the times 9:00am enter cf09, then press Enter.
7. The following Window will displayed with more function

8. Get Site Management Right. Click OK of the Message box.
Forcibly Loading Software of GTMU
1. This function is performed to load software to the main control board. The main control board of the base
station is the GTMU. Select Site0 > Double Click the Function Forced Software Load. In the dialog box
Browse the required File for GTMU i.e. gtmudown.pck. Enter the latest Version and File ID: GTMU_MAIN.
Then Click Start….

2. We can view the loading progress in the Site Maintenance Terminal System. If the software is loaded
successfully, the Loading software successfully message is displayed on the status bar.
Activating Software of GTMU
NOTE: Once Software Loading complete wait approximate 2 minute then start Activating Software.
1. Select Site0 > Double Click the Function Software Activation. The dialog box is displayed. In the Version
area, enter the version number. In the File ID drop-down list, select the file ID, as shown in figure

2. Click OK. The Software activation successfully message is displayed on the status bar at the bottom of
the dialog box.
3. Make sure from the Board Information of GTMU that the loaded Software Version is correct.

Site Opstart
1. Select Site0 > Double Click the Function Site Opstart.The dialog box is displayed. Click OK.
2. The Site Opstart successfully message is displayed on the status bar at the bottom of the dialog box.

Adding DRFU
1. In the left pane of the Site Maintenance Terminal System window, select Board. In the right pane of the
window, double-click Board Configuration. The Board Configuration window is displayed Double Click on
GTMU. Then Topology Configuration window is displayed as shown in figure.
2. Collect Topology info first. Click ADD RRU. Deploy DRRU window is displayed enter Card Type; card No,
SFP No and Hop No.

Software Loading of DRFU
1. Once DRFU adding complete then Select Site0 > Double Click the Function Forced Software Load. In the
dialog box Browse the required File for DRFU i.e. drfudown.pck. Enter the latest Version and File ID:
DRFU_MAIN. Then Click Start….
2. We can view the loading progress in the Site Maintenance Terminal System. If the software is loaded
successfully, the Loading software successfully message is displayed on the status bar.

Activating Software of DRFU
1. Select Site0 > Double Click the Function Software Activation. The dialog box is displayed. DRFU board
downloading progress % message is displayed on the status bar at the bottom of the dialog box. So DRFU
software activation starts automatically once loading complete successfully. There are no specified sequences
for activating the software of the boards.
2. Note it will take long time. So have to wait until all DRFU’s loading complete. Once any DRFU downloading
progress 100% complete, check the respective DRFU Board Information the version correct or not.

Troubleshooting case 1
�Phenomenon Description: Even though GTMU software loading completed successfully the Version still
not updated.
�Suggestions and Summary: This is occurred due to Execute the function Software Activation without
waiting few minutes (approx 2 min) after Loading Software Successfully.
So have to wait few minutes once loading Software Successfully.

Troubleshooting case 2
� Phenomenon Description: Even DRFU Software activation in progress but not completed 100% and
immediately takes other DRFU and continue activation progress.
� Suggestions and Summary: Check how many DRFU failed to update the version and Start the Software
Activation process for those DRFU separately.
Select Site0 > Double Click the Function Software Activation. The dialog box is displayed. In the dialog box
Enter the latest Version, Board No. and File ID: DRFU_MAIN. Then Click OK.
Troubleshooting case 3
� Phenomenon Description: During the activation of the DRFU board software, if the Site Maintenance
Terminal prompts that the software activation failed.
� Suggestions and Summary: Check the communication between the BBU and the DRFU.
1. Check the status of the CPRI0 LED on the GTMU panel of the BBU and the status of the CPRI0 and CPRI1
LEDs on the DRFU panel. All the LEDs are in the on in green status. (The status of the LED corresponding
to the CPRI port that is not in use should be Off.)
2. Check that the signal cables between cascaded DRFUs are securely connected to the CPRI0 and CPRI1
ports.
3. Check that one end of the CPRI signal cable is securely connected to the CPRI0 port on the DRFU and the
other end is securely connected to the CPRI port on the BBU.
4. Check the SFP male connectors at both ends of the CPRI signal cable. If the connector is faulty, replace it.
