Transcript of Force
FORCE-is a push or pull upon an object
- any influence that causes an object to undergo a certain change, either concerning its movement or direction
NONCONTACT FORCES- the objects are not in contact with each other.
GRAVITY
CONTACT FORCES- the objects have to be in contact with each other.Force between
road and the tires of a car
KINDS OF
FORCES
Gravitational Force- It is an attraction, or pull between objects. - It affects anything that has mass.
Dependence on Mass Dependence on Distance
Dependence on Mass
More massive planet =
more/large weight
Less massive planet = less/small
weight
Dependence on Distancenearer distance
= greater gravitational forcefarther distance = lesser gravitational force
Electromagnetic Force- It is associated with electrical charge and magnetism.
Electromagnetic Force- It causes the interaction between electrically charged particles; - the areas in which this happens are called electromagnetic fields.
Weak Force- It is actually stronger than the gravitational force.- It is active only at distances less than 10-18.Strong Force
- It acts only on hadrons and keeps them tightly packed within the nucleus.
Frictional Force- It is the resistive force that occurs when two surfaces contact each other.
Tension Force- It is the force that is transmitted through a string, rope, cable or wire when it is pulled tight by forces acting from opposite ends.
Normal Force- It is the support force exerted upon an object that is in contact with another stable object. For example, if a book is resting upon a surface, then the surface is exerting an upward force upon the book in order to support the weight of the book.
Applied Force- It is a force that is applied to an object by a person or another object. - If a person is pushing a desk across the room, then there is an applied force acting upon the object. The applied force is the force exerted on the desk by the person.
