Car seats can be fitted in one of two ways. Both are safe.The most important thing is that the car seat is installed correctly.

ISOFIX is a standardised international system which enables car seats to be installed correctly, without using the belts of the car.

ISOFIXCar seats can be installed without using car seat belts. The ISOFIX system is the easiest, quickest and safest way to install a car seat.

VEHICLE BELTIt requires the usage of vehicle belts, following belt-guides.

SAFEROnce fixed in place, the car seat effectively becomes an integral part of the car body, reducing forward rotation movements in case of frontal impact

WHAT IS THE I-SIZE REGULATION?

The first of the three phases of the i-Size European safety standard (ECE R129) entered into force in July 2013. It involves car seats for babies from birth up to 105 cms in height, and can be summarised into the following five key points:

In summer 2017, the second phase of the i-Size (R129-02) regulation will enter into force, focusing on children with a height of 100 cms and above.Specifically:

• It will not make the Isofix system compulsory. Car seats for older children may or may not be equipped with this type of installation;

• It will no longer be possible to homologate car seats without backrests, so all car seats approved according to the R129-02 standard will must have this feature.

• it classifies car seats in accordance with the height of the baby and not the weight, as in the ECE R44/04 regulation;

• it promotes the usage of the ISOFIX system, with the aim of reducing the risk of incorrect installation;

• it requires the side impact testing, using “Q” series dummies, which are equipped with more sensors;

• it makes mandatory the rearward facing configuration till at least 15 months of the baby;

• it guarantees perfect compatibility with those cars with i-Size homologation and generally speaking, i-Size car seats are compatible with almost all cars equipped with ISOFIX connectors.
