OSM15 and OSM25

OSM15 and OSM25 provide switching and reclosing on power networks. OSMs utilize indoor switching modules (ISM) contained within a sealed tank. ISM incorporates vacuum interrupters (VI) inside a polycarbonate housing. Each VI is embedded in a polymer bushing. This bushing also encases current and voltage sensors to form single and completely solid insulation of each OSM pole. Voltage and current are measured on all six bushings. The bushing insulation is of a multilayer patented design. Polycarbonate provides mechanical support and excellent dielectric strength, while silicon rubber gives UV protection and an extended creepage distance. Being of the same kind, polycarbonate and silicon rubber, when applied together, create solid-state and jointless insulation without air-bubble voids having the life expectancy of 30 years. This multilayer patented insulation with the unrivalled dialectic strength of 30kV/mm withstands the lighting impulse voltage as high as 150kV, which is the highest in its class on the market. The field-proven design is applicable for the use in aggressive environment such as sand storms, salt fog, steady downpour or snowfall and intense solar radiation. The tank is made of corrosion proof, powder coated aluminium and provides IP65 protection. This ensures maximum life and reliability with a fully insulated arrangement inside the durable aluminum alloy housing. The ceramic breather is located at the base of the tank to prevent a build-up of condensation.Voltage and current are measured on all six bushings. Bushings are manufactured from UV stable polymer and the silicon rubber bushing boot provides a sufficient creepage distance as well as perfect withstand abilities when exposed to direct sun light, strong winds, salt and sand storms.

OperationThe OSM mechanism is operated by three separate magnetic actuators, one per pole. These magnetic actuators are mechanically interlocked to guarantee correct a three phase operation. The device is latched into the closed position by magnetic latching. Each magnetic actuator utilizes a single coil which is used for both opening and reclosing operations and is the result of the “fourth generation” development of magnetic actuators by Tavrida Electric.

Current and Voltage SensingVoltage sensing is carried out by conductive rubber screens that are capacitively coupled to the HV terminals. Current sensing is performed by six Rogowski sensors, one sensor per each HV terminal. Rogowski sensors are current sensors that produce a safe, low voltage output. Three starconnected sensor secondaries monitor phase currents and another three delta-connected sensor’s secondaries provide residual current measurement. Rogowski sensors are fundamentally air-cored CTs making them unsusceptible to current saturation when exposed to fault currents. Furthermore Rogowski sensors, unlike conventional current transformers, do not generate potentially hazardous voltages when the secondary is an open circuit, as the absence of an iron core eliminates circuit loading and saturation concerns. As the iron core of the current transformer becomes more saturated the CT's accuracy declines significantly which limits the accuracy of its readings. Rogowski sensors provide accurate primary current readings across all ranges and outperform conventional current transformers.Some of the benefits of using Rogowski Current Sensors are the following.

OSM35

OSM35 is a unique new product that has no analogues. Many of its elements are patented. The appearance and dimensions of the recloser are amazing. Today, it is the smallest 40,5 kV automatic circuit recloser available on the market.The OSM pole incorporates a vacuum interrupter, a magnetic actuator, a support insulator and current and voltage sensors fully encapsulated by Powersil 600 silicone rubber - a material with high tracking and erosion resistance. The poles are bolted to a metal frame which protects the mechanism against weather impact. The frame is made of a corrosion resistant aluminium alloy is powder coated and provides an IP65 degree of protection. The module is operated by three magnetic actuators one per pole.The OSM can be mechanically tripped by rotating the yellow hook by 90 degrees clockwise.

OperationIn the OPEN position the vacuum interrupter contacts are held open by the force of opening spring, the actuator acting through the drive insulator. To close the vacuum interrupter contacts a current impulse, derived from a control module is sent through the actuator coil. When closed, the switching module is latched magnetically. To open the interrupter a current of opposite polarity, derived from the opening capacitor in the control module, is passed through the coil.

Current and Voltage SensingPhase Current sensing is carried out by three Rogowski sensors with star-connected secondaries, which monitor phase currents. Residual current measurement is provided by three current transformers with delta-connected secondaries.Voltage sensing is carried out by conductive rubber screens that are capacitively coupled to the HV terminals.

RECLOSER CONTROL CUBICLES

Recloser control cubicles (RC) are microprocessor based controllers that provide directional overcurrent, earth fault and sensitive earth fault protection, auto-reclosing, instantaneous metering, event log, demand logger and RTU for remote control in one single package.The protection and communications functionality available allows for the support of applications such as radial line reclosers or ring line reclosers.Recloser control cubic les support the fol lowing communications protocols: DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 60870-5-101.

The following modules are installed inside RC_5.Recloser Control Module (RCM) is responsible for all functionality of the cubicle except for the Control Panel Module and the Bluetooth functionality. It contains a protection and communications board, a driver board and a battery charging board. It also provides 12 VDC for modem power supply.Control Panel Module (CPM) is used for key control and indication functions of the cubicle. RC_5 has a six line, backlit LCD display, a USB port for local communication with a PC and fast keys intended to enable/disable protections.Power Supply Filter Module (PSFM) provides impulse noise protection for all internal modules. It also incorporates two thermal over current circuit breakers on the front panel that protect the auxiliary voltage inputs from overloads and shortcircuits.I/O Module (IOM) (optionally supplied) is designed to provide control and indication functions with the aid of digitally programmable inputs/outputs. IOM contains twelve digital inputs and twelve digital outputs.Rechargeable Genesis G26EPX lead acid sealed battery is intended for back-up power supply. The power supply system of RC_5 is designed to provide optimum charging and long life of the battery.Bluetooth Module (optionally supplied) provides point-to-point wireless connection between the control cubicle and a PC. In case of extreme weather conditions operators can control the recloser or change settings from their vehicles.

RC_5 control cubicleRC_5 provides the control for the OSM15 and OSM25.The enclosure of the cubicle is made of aluminum alloy, is powder coated and provides an IP65 degree of protection.The external door is equipped with a three-sided lock. Inside the cubicle door, a limit switch is installed which makes it possible to create an alarm signal and transfer it to the user when someone opens the internal door. A 220 VAC socket is provided on the front panel for laptop power supply.

RC_7 control cubicleRC_7 is designed for the control of OSM15, OSM25 and OSM35.The enclosure of the cubicle provides an IP65 degree of protection.This cutting-edge smart recloser controller incorporates the following.• Control Module• Control Panel Module• Rechargeable Battery• Battery temperature sensor• Door limit switch• Thermal overcurrent circuit breakers• Overvoltage suppressors• Laptop power supply socket• Additional modem holder

Control Module (CM) has three functional units housed in an aluminium case.

The Protection and communications board contains analogue to digital converters, a DSP processor providing measurement and protection functions, a host processor providing signal routing and communications functions and imbedded Wi-Fi and GPRS modems.

The Driver board contains capacitors for closing and tripping operations, six programmable digital inputs and six digital outputs.

The IOM is used to provide control and indication functions with the aid of digitally programmable inputs/outputs. In total, the driver board has six digital inputs and six digital outputs.

The Battery charger board contains a battery charger with a built-in processor providing optimum battery charging and uninterruptible power supply for RC_7. This board converts external auxiliary AC/DC voltage or residual battery voltage into the internal supply voltage necessary for correct CM operation. It also has 12V outputs for external modem power supply.

Rechargeable Genesis G26EPX lead acid sealed battery is used for back-up power supply.Rated voltage: 12VRated capacity: 26AhAmbient temperature range: (-40…+55) °CEstimated battery life (at 25°C): 12.5 years.

Control Panel Module (CPM) which is used for key control and indication functions of the cubicle. An extra bright, 6 line, 40 character wide OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) display allows an operator to monitor all recloser parameters even when CPM is directed to sunlight. Additionally CPM has a sensor keypad with LED indication.

Imbedded Wi-Fi modem provides the possibility to establish wireless connection between a recloser controller and a laptop, tablet or communicator. It saves time and provides operator comfort while recloser programming as operators no longer have to climb poles or even leave their vehicles to control reclosers. All of the available features can now be accessed through a Wi-Fi enabled device.

Imbedded GPRS modem gives the possibility to control reclosers remotely via the Telarm Dispatcher interface. It gives a cost-effective solution to establish remote communications. In addition, customers can change recloser settings remotely which saves their time.

TELARM®

T E L A R M® user software provides a user friendly communication interface between RC and PC directly or via remote communications schemes (GPRS, Radio, etc) and consists of three main applications.

TELARM® basic gives control and indication functions via a personal computer interface (PCI). It includes:• Off-line settings configuration (using graphical interface).• Local downloading/uploading of settings (using Wi-Fi

interface).• Local downloading of indication data (system status and

logs).• Local control functions.

TELARM® project (applicable in off-line mode only) provides the following functions:• Off-line system designing with Network editor which

allows users to make the electrical scheme of a network. Network elements such as lines, sources, reclosers, transformers, fuses, loads etc. with their parameters can be mapped in the scheme. Once the network data have been entered it is possible to find the ideal location of the recloser based on reliability indices (SAIDI, SAIFI, etc.).

• Software Simulation of normal or fault regimes on grids. While running simulation the dynamic behaviour of all devices (fuses and reclosers) for the particular fault is calculated. Setting different fault types at different locations one can test the correctness of operation.

• Automatic or semi-automatic configuration of protection settings with the aid of Auto-coordination or Auto-correction algorithms. The auto-coordination algorithm takes into account all of the important factors generally considered by protection engineers. At the same time, it s ignif icantly reduces the requirements of the qualification of the engineer who is involved in setting calculations. It also allows for the substantial reduction of the number of man-hours required for programming the microprocessor relays.

TELARM® dispatcher is a SCADA application that provides online control and indication functions via the Telarm Dispatcher interface (TDI) of all Tavrida reclosers installed on a network. It features:• Remote control functions (using an imbedded GPRS modem)• Remote downloading of indication data• Remote downloading/uploading of settings and logs

INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING

OSM15, OSM25 and OSM35 are supplied with 6 mechanical connectors designed for the connection of a bare or insulated conductor with 40mm² - 240mm². As standard the reclosers come with bird protection. Additionally, the Rec series automatic circuit reclosers can be supplied with mounting kits, surge arrestors, GSM/GPRS modems, VTs, wire and I/O modules to form an all-in-one package for easy and secure installation. For functional and protection testing on site or at the factory interface testing sets are available. The interface testing sets facilitate the use of conventional primary or secondary current injection test units.

All optional components are designed in such a way that the erection, programming and commissioning can be done as quickly as in a single working day only. This will dramatically minimize the downtime and installation costs.
