Case Study: Shopping Mall VicarAnalytics was used to measure visitor statistics in a shopping mall in the Dutch city of Haarlem. A total of 47.913 customers were tracked for a total of 18 days over 3 months. Research Question How can we make sure customers do not avoid our digital advertising screens? How can we measure their engagement without stopping and asking them? Approach We compared two types of advertisements:

Personalized advertisements based on the gender of the passers-by, presented by a digi-tal host.

How does it work? A number of sensors are placed at several locations in a store, for example at a new product, poster or digital screen. The sensors are connected to a computer system, which is equipped with advanced face analysis software that computes visitor profiles in real time.

How do I get my output? The output is available on an online dashboard, all statistics can be exported to a .csv file. You can also visualize your results and create your own comparisons using collected statistics.

How about privacy? Your customers’ privacy is guaranteed. Only fully anonymous visitor profiles are stored on the system, no photos and videos! Data is stored for a limited time on secure servers. A standardized notice sign about recording of customers is provided.

Case Study: Interactivity Three conferences in Paris, Berlin and Lisbon, VicarAnalytics was used to measure visitor statistics in response to interactive kiosks at conferences. A total of 83.488 visitors were detected and 2.987 interacted with the kiosks. Results

The Berlin conference was the most engaging, because 10% of the visitors interacted with the kiosk in comparison to 3.3% in Paris and 2.6% in Lisbon.

The biggest proportion of visitors was detected between 10 am - 2 pm in all conferences.

The conference in Berlin had more 40+ year old visitors than Paris and Lisbon which attracted mostly 30+ year olds.

The Paris conference evoked least emotions: only 25% of the visitors in Paris showed an emotion, compared to 60% in Berlin and Lisbon.

Similar interactivity cases A large cosmetics retailer in the Netherlands installed a number of interactive kiosks in order to provide cus-tomers an interactive and tailored experience with their products. A large hardware store chain uses an interactive kiosk that provides a discount based on customer choice. This interaction is monitored using the Customer Ana-lytics module. A major Dutch bank used FaceReader for usability research in their user experience center.
