Bermuda Motor Car Inc Selected as Luxury Chauffeured Transportation Provider for First stop of Royal UK British Worldwide Global Bus Tour

New York, NY— May 22, 2013 – Bermuda Motor Car, one of the industry leaders in luxury chauffeured transportation services, announces its prestigious selection and honor today by the British Consulate-General -- New York to serve as the driver of London’s newest Double Decker bus during its first stop in New York City along the prodigious British Worldwide Global Bus Tour.

The tour commences in NYC and is destined for 16 countries during the next 12 months. As one part of Great Britain’s campaign, its goal is to promote Great Britain as a world-class destination for trade, investment, tourism, and education.

On May 14th, His Royal Highness Prince Harry and UK Prime Minister Cameron launched the tour at Milk Studios in New York City, arriving in style on a colossal branded special edition London Double Decker bus driven by Bermuda Motor Car’s professionally groomed and experienced chauffeur.

The New Bus for London -- the 21st century successor to the Route Master bus -- is poised to become a global icon, symbolizing not only the city of London but serving as a standard bearer of modern public transportation. Designed by the Wright Group, the vehicle is stunning; Powered by the latest hybrid technology, it is strikingly stylish and has a number of special features including two staircases -- one towards the front and one at the back. It shows off a leading first class wheelchair bay and priority seating with delegated space for assistance dogs.

It incorporates but improves upon and updates some of the treasured and noteworthy design elements of the much loved Route Master; the grooved flooring on the stairs and entrances, lightweight bench seating, and most importantly, the, “hop on hop off,” rear platform in use when a conductor is on board. The vehicle, in Royal British tradition, sports a steering wheel on the right side, is 14.5 feet high and has left side entrance/exit doors. It is considerably higher than any of the tourist Double Decker busses seen throughout Times Square and other popular attractions in NYC. Because of its height, it posed a challenge that necessitated a special strategy for navigation through the streets of New York City and from the ports of New Jersey, which Bermuda Motor Car Inc engineered and pre-planned along truck routes and succeeded in mastering with aplomb.
