Adolescence is the age when a person witnesses various changes both inside and outside the body in the form of physical, hormonal as well as psychological changes. It is a stage between childhood and adulthood. The growth takes place very rapidly. Thinking, dressing, behaviour etc. also get influenced. It faces different challenges like mood swings, depression, identity crisis, inability in decision making, and loneliness. External support and guidance is a much needed step which is taken by adults or guardians in the family.

These days we come across news reporting about indulgence of teens in maladaptive practices, teen rapes, juvenile crimes, suicide because of academic or family pressures, substance abuse, etc. Repetitive criminal acts by adoles-cents raised eye-brows of many. Government has taken initiatives at the grass root level for the betterment and uplift-ment of adolescents especially girls. “Adolescent Girls Counseling Programmes” are being conducted by local police stations. Things have probably started changing gradually and moving towards development. The development of any nation can never be imagined without providing equal opportunities to its citizen in all walks of life. There is a need of growing awareness in both rural and urban areas on the need to safeguard the nation’s future by protecting and supporting the Adolescents at a time when they require it the most.
