Long-term stable measurement
The Vortex measuring principle is a provenmethod for measuring the volumetric flowof water-based liquids. Behind a bluntbody, the flowing medium generatesswirling vortices. The frequency of theseswirling vortices is detected by a piezo-ceramic measuring element.The frequency is a measure for the flowvelocity.
The volumetric flow can be calculatedwith the flow velocity and the defined pipediameter.The measurement results are independentof pressure and temperature fluctuationsof the medium.

Fast detection
A spring-based piston is lifted by theflowing medium.The piston position is monitored via amagnetic-field sensor and is output as ananalogue signal.
The spring resistance forces the pistonto return to its original position with de-creasing flow. This allows an orientation-independent installation of the flowsensor. Backflow is prevented.
For installation in the pipe no laminarflow is required as is the case with othermeasuring principles.The sensor features very fast responsetimes ≤ 10 ms.

Universal measuring principle
Ultrasonic sensors consist of transducersthat transmit and receive sound pulsesand reflectors that direct the pulses fromone transducer to the other. A pulse issent through the medium.A sensor measures the time of flight fromone transducer to the other. Then a pulseis sent in the opposite direction. The sen-sor measures the difference in time andcalculates the volumetric flow rate.

Thermal measuring principle
The airflow monitor SL is mainly used inventilation units of building managementsystems to monitor sufficient air supply. Ituses the thermal measuring principle. Thesensor consists of a heating element and atemperature probe (reference element).The temperature difference betweenthese two elements is a measure for theflow velocity.
