FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Streisand themed Spring hits WSO, WJT and Rady JCC Winnipeg, MB – Feb 9, 2016 – The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO), the Rady Jewish Community Centre (Rady JCC) and the Winnipeg Jewish Theatre (WJT) are all going Streisand this spring. It kicks off with the WSO’s presentation of The Streisand Songbook sung by Ann Hampton Callaway for Valentine’s weekend February 12-14 at the Centennial Concert Hall. The Rady JCC will present The Barbra Streisand Film Festival on April 3, 6 and 13 at the Berney Theatre. Tickets go on sale March 1 and will be available at radyjcc.com. The WJT closes events with Buyer & Cellar, May 7-15, a sophisticated comedy that offers an unconventional glimpse into one of the most idolized Jewish icons of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Tickets available at wjt.ca. Streisand is an almost mystical performer. Incredible talent and stage presence have made her a fixture in pop culture through her iconic roles on Broadway, in film and as a recording artist. Streisand is the only artist ever to receive Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Directors Guild of America, Golden Globe, National Medal of Arts and Peabody Awards as well as the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Platinum award-winning singer-songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway celebrates the music of Streisand, crafting a loving musical portrait, putting a unique pop/jazz spin on unforgettable songs from Barbra’s Broadway years to her film and pop tunes including Over the Rainbow, Don’t Rain On My Parade, The Way We Were, People, Evergreen, Come Rain or Come Shine and more. Hampton Callaway created the Streisand Songbook as a tribute to her friend and collaborator.
