For fair and Just Political Representation

This DANR proposal is based on the New York State’s 2010 population of 19,378,102 people, as reported by the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau. Consider-ing this population and that the number of senate districts will remain at 62, the average size for each NYS senate district would be 312,550 people. In the State of New York, each senate district is required to be at least 5% plus or 5% minus of the everage size population. Districts with too many or too few people will have to be adjusted or combined with other districts to be within +/- 5% in order to meet target average size.

Under this scenrario senate districts maximun size would be 328,178 people, which is equivalent to average size of 312,550 plus 5%.

Senate districts minimum size would be 296,923, which is equivalent to average size of 312,550 minus 5%.

Intended average size per senate district may change due to other factors, including prison population and other considerations.

In 2000, the average size of New York state senate districts was 306,072 people.
