Without a specified place in the sequence of the Tarot, the Fool can appear at the beginning of the Major Arcana or at the end. In fact, the Major Arcana is often considered the Fool’s journey through life, making him ever-present and in no need of a number! Behind the Fool, the rising sun represents the beginning of his journey, while the mountains represent the realms of Spirit he has just left— and will spend his life trying to regain. Now, facing northwest, the direction of the unknown, he looks upwards toward the sky, or Spirit, and is about to step off a cliff into the material world. But is he prepared? The white rose in his left hand represents his purity and innocence, and he has all the tools and resources he needs in his bag. But he has yet to open that bag. Tarot Card Meanings

The Fool is a card of promise, of new beginnings and innocence. This card shows the highest potential for your life, a state of renewal in which each day is an adventure and every moment is lived to the fullest. It represents the beginning of all creativity and a desire to accomplish new goals (or, at least, to start the process of working towards those goals). This card indicates that anything can happen, that there new opportunities are just waiting for you.

The Fool can indicate the need to set forth on a new journey, one which is completely unknown, which will take you into uncharted territory. Concerned with new experiences, personal growth, development and adventure, the Fool asks you to take a leap of faith and to trust that, if you begin a new journey, you will find success. This carefree Fool lives free from worry and anxiety. He doesn't seem to mind if he can't really know what lies ahead

In addition, the Fool may also refer to a choice to be madea choice of vital importance. However, as there are always many options available, the choice must be made wisely. If you are facing a decision or a moment of doubt, the Fool encourages you to believe in yourself and follow your heartno matter how crazy or foolish your impulses may seem. This is a time when you need to truly believe; have faith in the Universe's direction for you.

An excellent card to meditate upon if you are experiencing fear of the new or unknown, the Fool affirms creativity, risk-taking and the courage needed to open new doors. Always whole, healthy and without fear, the Fool is the spirit we express as wonder, awe, curiosity and anticipation.

In living life as the Fool, you have a more direct inner connection with Universal energies and feel the power of spirituality transforming your everyday life. You'll experience a sense of renewed youthfulness and an increased awareness of the gifts life has to offer.

The Fool may also reflect your desire to explore different approaches to spirituality to see how they fit. There is nothing wrong with this exploration; however, be careful not to get too carried away with any one thing while you're still exploring your options. And, if you're experiencing the Fool as the need to obtain deeper spiritual knowledge, know that your friends and family may not understand where this is coming from. Regardless, you have to do what is best for you.
