Savour and indulge with us in some of our favourite foodie haunts as we visit historic Barcelona. Spend an evening with a small group strolling along the historic streets of Barcelona with a knowledgeable guide while tasting Spanish wines and Spain's culinary treasures.

Our meeting place is in front of Starbucks café in "Las Ramblas " La Rambla dels Estudis 109. From here your guide will lead you to Barcelona's most famous street, Las Ramblas. It is the most popular

place in the city, a straight pedestrian thoroughfare, planted with plane trees and crossed day and night by a constant stream of passers-by.

Just off of la Rambla street, the world-famous Boqueria market is surely Barcelona’s greatest food market. You will enjoy an incredible contrast between colours and activity, ideal to discover why Mediterranean cuisine is internationally known due to its ingredients.

Off we go to the gothic quarter, where you will discover an architecture, atmosphere, language and gastronomy that are unique in Spain... and some of the gourmet shops over 100 years old. En route to the gothic quarter we will stop a buzzing Mediterranean brassiere with an excellent selection of tapas. Here 3tasty montaditos (tapas) and a glas of wine or beer will be waiting for you. Our last stop will be a restaurant with a wide selection of delectable pintxos, situated in Barcelona’s city centre. Traditional Cooking Class in Costa Brava Emporda – Costa Brava

The Emporda cuisine has its own identity, which perfectly combines products from the land and from the sea. Professional chefs carry out gastronomic campaigns throughout the year with the aim of sharing, protecting and preserving the most significant dishes and products.

Join Food & Wine Tours cooking classes in Emporda and discover the secrets of their traditional cuisine: a reflection of its territory: the sea provides the excellent fish and seafood so typical of the cooking of the coast; the plain gives the produce of the field, the market gardens and the fruit orchards, and from the hills we receive meat, cheese and wild fruits and mushrooms. The mixture of all of these is what has given our cuisine this variety of flavours and

contrasts and gained it the name of “sea and mountain” cooking.

Organic Wine & Cava Organic wines are the new superstars of the wine world, and for the first time these pioneering winemakers open their doors for us.

Food & wine tours offers guests an intimate and authentic look into the philosophies, challenges and pleasures behind this delicious movement.

We will have the opportunity to visit two reference cellars of Penedès, where they show

respect and sensitivity for the environment as much as for the wines they produce.

In the morning we will visit one of Spain's leading organic wine producers since 1979. The family has been making wine at the Can Vendrell estate for four generations. They are currently undergoing an important renovation of the cellar with the recently construction of the new Xapallà cellar and the reintroduction of a number of experimental grape varieties. We will do a visit consisting of a brief introduction to the company and its philosophy, a tour of both the old and new cellars and a guided tasting of the cellar's wines.

Gourmet lunch at a restaurant located in a natural beauty spot with exceptional views of Montserrat and the Penedès valley. It offers fresh market cuisine, but without forgetting the Catalan cuisine typical of this area. For lunch we will enjoy a wonderful gourmet 8 dishes meal paired with wines.

In the afternoon visit the cellar that has recently attained the greatest acknowledgement for Cava. Their range of wines reflects the dual personality of a winery attuned both to the most dyed-in-the-wool traditionalism and the most daring avant-garde. Its cavas are faithfully traditional. Guided visit with tasting.

Distinguished bubbles Generation after generation our cellars have witnessed the passing of time in El Penedès.

The knowledge -fruit of long hours of work and observation in the vineyard- has passed on from parents to children. The generations have progressed, looking towards the future without forgetting their origins, their love for the land and the exquisite fruit of tradition.

We open the doors of the oldest cellars in the region so that the visitor can appreciate the rich heritage of these families.

A tour where emotion, tradition and taste are the best combination.

Great Wines of Priorat A full day in which you will enjoy two great wineries, each totally different to the other, where production is limited to a more valuable high quality raw material.

Our first stop will be a traditional winery in Gratallops. A cellar that lead the renaissance of one of the best wine producing areas of the world by recovering the ancient wines made by the monks of Santa Maria carthusian monastery (XII century) that during centuries gave prestige and fame to the Priorat wines.

The visit: After a complete visit of the winery we will proceed to do a full tasting of their 4 best wines.

Lunch at a restaurant in Gratallops, situated in an 18th century house at the entrance of the village.

The restaurant has a warm and welcoming environment, where you can enjoy the wines from Priorat together with a reasonable, natural, elegant and tasty cuisine which is composed of more than thirty different Mediterranean dishes.

In the afternoon visit one of the traditional wine producers in the small village Scala Dei. They use a lot of Grenache, slow fermentation and long maceration with the grape skins to extract as much colour and aromas as possible for the wines. The production of their wines is limited.

During the visit we will see the vines on the terraced slopes and then return to the winery to do a visit of the winery. We will taste 3 wines. Along the way we will visit several small villages and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Priorat region. Return to Barcelona.

Wine weekend in Rioja – Laguardia

A weekend to explore one of the best lands for vineyard growing in the wine producing world. Visiting Laguardia, one of the most perfectly preserved medieval villages in Spain; and the church of Santa María de los Reyes which has an extraordinary polychromatic portico, the finest in Spain. During the weekend you will visit two of the best wineries of the region followed by a tasting of their unique wines. Lunch will be based on traditional Riojan cuisine in a restaurant looking for a balance between modernity and tradition.

Laguardia is located in Rioja Alavesa, where its inhabitants are devoted exclusively to the vineyard production. This fact makes the ´tempranillo` grape reach quality peaks very difficult to reach in other areas. The underground of this village is crossed by the wine cellars of ´Caves` (Cuevas) excavated under the houses and streets at about 6 meters deep. The town still has its original medieval layout with a good number of fortified towers still surviving.

Hotel in Laguardia description: If there is anything that defines the personality of the Rioja Alavessa region then it is the production of wine, so those who enjoy a good tipple and fine food will find this excellent 19th century cellar hard to beat. The art of the vine is ever present here. Even the rooms are named after a particular type of grape. Though these are placed along a hotel like corridor, all are bright, spacious and blessed with some lovely touches. Visitors can also go on guided tours of the cellars and have the opportunity of taking wine-tasting courses. Other comforts include the living room furnished with interesting antiques pieces, fine little bar and library. This sum of great wine, food, lovely rooms and decor makes for a winning combination and it comes as no surprise that the hotel is widely considered to be one of the best “bodegas” in the region. Simply superb!

Recommendations:

The Rueda wine region, while producing whites, rosés and reds, has made a place for itself in the world of Spanish wine thanks to the Verdejo white grape variety, which gives its whites their powerful aroma. The town of Rueda is the center of local wine-making activity. Nearby is Medina del Campo, the city of fairs whose golden age was during the Middle Ages. Of special note is De la Mota Castle. Tordesillas is home to the Toro Vega festival, and her Treaty Houses (Casas del Tratado) witnessed the signing of the document which divided the New World into two parts. The town offers much for visitors to

discover. Nearby lays the Riberas de Castronuño-Vegas del Duero natural area.

Parador de Zamora 2nd Day, Monday Recommendations:

The Toro wine region is located within the area of Zamora divided by the Douro River, leaving the Land of Bread (Tierra del Pan) to the north, and to the south, the Land of Wine. The importance of vineyards can be seen in such Zamora towns as Venialbo, El Pego, Valdefinjas and Sanzoles, among others. They have preserved excellent examples of vernacular winery architecture, evidence of the ancient connection to this activity throughout the entire region. Toro is the capital of this wine-producing region, and the location of its regulatory council. All the hillsides along the route of the mighty river are populated by numerous vineyards. The town has preserved part of its castle, as well as the Corredera and Arco del Reloj gates, dating from the 18th century. To all this must be added the innumerable other attractions in the city of Zamora, a town of great beauty and many monuments.

Parador de Salamanca 3rd Day, Tuesday Recommendations: Following a few days discovering the world of wine, stroll to the center of the baroque 18th-century Main Square (Plaza Mayor), look around and allow yourself to be seduced by its beauty and harmony. The living heart of the city is the starting point for our tour. Among the many monuments you will discover the 15th-century House of Shells (Casa de las Conchas), the Old Cathedral (13th-century), New Cathedral (16th-18th centuries), and the university (16th-century), as well as many churches, palaces and the archives. The provincial capital is a treasure

house of monuments, a city in which the hustle and bustle of the university throbs with unceasing cultural activity.

Recommendations:

Rioja is the land of wine, an exceptional place where this product achieves its greatest expression. Near Calahorra you can discover the wineries of Lower Rioja, including Torres Librada (Alfaro) and Viña Herminia (Aldeanuela del Ebro). In Calahorra, we recommend exploring the cathedral and the Episcopal palace.

Parador de Olite 2nd Day, Monday Recommendations:

As you approach Olite and see the town silhouetted against the horizon, you will feel that much awaits your discovery. The town offers you the opportunity to discover the palace of the Kings of Navarre, Sta. María la Real Church, San Pedro Apóstol Church, and Carlos III Square. You can explore the world of wine in the Navarre Museum of Wine and Vineyards, which is located in the same lovely square as the Parador. Other highlights include the Piedemonte, Marco Real and Bodega Ochoa wineries.

Parador de Sto. Domingo de la Calzada 3rd Day, Tuesday Recommendations:

The town of Sto. Domingo is an excellent setting-off point for discovering the Upper Rioja region and its wealth of heritage linked to wine and viniculture, famous throughout the world. We recommend a visit to the Ontañón Winery/Museum (Logroño), the Haro Oenology Station in Haro, the Vivanco Museum of the Culture of Wine in Briones, as well as some of the vineyards in the Upper Rioja region which are open to visitors. Another possibility is following the Wine Architecture Route (Gehry, Calatrava, Moneo, etc.). In Santo Domingo you can explore the exenta, or stand-alone, cathedral tower, the cathedral itself (high altar, the saint’s mausoleum, hen’s cage, and cloister). Nearby lays the town of San Millán

de la Cogolla (San Millán de Yuso Monastery and San Millán de Suso Monastery).

Parador de Soria 1st Day, Sunday Recommendations:

The quality of the wines from this region, which encompasses four provinces – Soria, Burgos, Segovia and Valladolid – is joined by its many tourist attractions, as well as the cultural and artistic wealth of each of its towns. Following a route from east to west, beginning in the province of Soria, highlights include San Esteban de Gormaz, through which the Douro River passes, watering the fertile meadows and lands along its banks. Nearby is the town of Atauta, famous for having the best preserved group of traditional wineries on the entire Ribera del Duero route. No less attractive are those preserved in Langa de Duero, which has been declared an area of historic and artistic importance. The hillside on which Castillejo de Robledo castle stands is populated by presses, and the incalculable beauty of its parish church is a wonderful surprise along the route.

Parador de Lerma 2nd Day, Monday Recommendations: The De la Vid Monastery marks the beginning of the lands of the Ribera del Duero region in Burgos. A belfry over 30 meters in height is the first sight visitors get of the monastery. Before entering Aranda de Duero, we recommend first visiting the town of Peñaranda de Duero. This strategic point along the Douro River welcomes travellers with its proud castle, the palace of the Zúñiga and Avellaneda families and the collegiate church. The headquarters of the regulatory council for the Ribera del Duero denominación de origen is located in Roa. The vicissitudes of history have caused this town to lose a great many of its palaces and churches, evidence of the wealth of an era. However, well worth a visit are the ex-collegiate church of Santa María and the former church of San Sebastián.

Parador de Tordesillas 3rd Day, Tuesday Recommendations: We a re now in the province of Valladolid, and as the river passes through the town of Peñafiel it

becomes broader, its agricultural boundaries expanding. The town’s vernacular architecture shows its connection to wine, as does the enormous castle, today home to the Provincial Wine Museum (Museo Provincial del Vino). Cotarro de San Pedro, a lovely hill populated by wineries, indicates that we are approaching Pesquera de Duero, a town long linked to wine production. Valbuena de Duero, home to the prestigious Vega Sicilia winery, among others, and Santa María de Valbuena Monastery are the highlights of the last stage of the route through the province of Valladolid. Its lands bathed by the waters of the Douro, the monastery, permanent headquarters of the Ages of Man Foundation (Fundación de las Edades del Hombre), possesses a dazzling beauty. Along this route lies the Riaza River Gorge natural area, between the town limits of

Montejo de la Vega de la Serrezuela, Maderuelo and Valdevacas de Montejo.

The building has been developed around the central patio of the Grand Cloister, today covered with a glass cupola and fitted out as a lounge area. What was once the chapel of the cloister is today an elegant restaurant and the refectory has been transformed into a conference and meeting room.

Full buffet breakfast in the hotel

From Ribera del Duero, we'll head northeast to the hillier, lovely wine region of La Rioja

Departure to Elciego.

Visit to one of the most original bodegas remaining in Laguardia today because it is one of the largest within the limits of the town walls. It has two presses where wine is still made just like in the olden days, by crushing the grapes with the feet. The ground underneath is bored through with many of the bodegas built during medieval times and altogether they make a sort of underground city.

Lunch at a restaurant looking for a balance between modernity and tradition, with a very personal view of traditional Riojan cuisine. From their viewing balcony we have the privilege (unique in Spain) of enjoying breathtaking views of 4

provinces. What is more, it has a gourmet shop “The Laguardia Wine Cellar” where connoisseurs of the internationally renowned Rioja wine can purchase the best wines of the region, with the helpful advice of experts.

Wine hotel accommodation. If there is anything that defines the personality of the Rioja Alavessa region then it is the production of wine, so those who enjoy a good tipple and fine food will find this excellent 19th century cellar hard to beat. Once in the “Bodega” don’t forget to check out the huge Fresco of Dionysus along the cellar wall. Other comforts include the living room furnished with interesting antiques pieces, fine little bar and library.

Arrival and accommodation in Barcelona

Barcelona is without doubt one of Europe’s most exciting cities. Barcelona is a place of extraordinary architectural dazzle, achieved by what has been called both Catalan Art Nouveau and Modernisme, by architects Gaudi, Domenech i Montaner and Puig Cadafalch. Monumental sculptures by local masters like Joan Miró adorn public spaces and museums house extraordinary treasures ranging from works of the ancient Romans to those of Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Barcelona city is further enhanced by brightly colored outdoor markets, a magnificent Mediterranean port where yachts sway peacefully, and a plentiful array of stylish restaurants. Needless to say, the nightlife is splendid.

Hotel in Laguardia If there is anything that defines the personality of the Rioja Alavessa region then it is the production of wine, so those who enjoy a good tipple and fine food will find this excellent 19th century cellar hard to beat. Once in the “Bodega” don’t forget to check out the huge Fresco of Dionysus along the cellar wall. Other comforts include the living room furnished with interesting antiques pieces, fine little bar and library.

Hotel in Barcelona 4**** The 19th century exterior of the hotel gives no hint of the minimalist retreat to be found inside, a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the thriving city that is Barcelona. Oriental style décor in many of the rooms, subtle greys, silk cushions, dark leather all add to the atmosphere. This, together with an extremely convenient location near the Gaudi House and you have a welcome addition to the city’s offering of hotels. Everything from service to facilities smacks of 5 star quality, but due to the lack of a restaurant (not a problem given the many excellent eating places to be found nearby) it has to make to do with only a four star rating. Another interesting little touch is the Zeroom an “ask Me” service where staff will help you plan your spare time in the city. Its not a gimmick, they really know what they are talking about.
