Importance of font• The font is a hugely important part of the album cover and is also

used throughout the franchise. The font is purposely made unique and iconic on some products so that they are instantly recognisable and the audience can immediately link it to the artist.

• An example of an iconic font for Pop is Top of the pops masthead (image below.) Another Example of an iconic pop font is the We Love Pop font, those who have read the magazines will instantly recognise the font as will some people who haven’t read the magazine as the same font is used in advertising campaigns.

My Font Research• As I am creating a pop album cover, I looked at some real examples,

Album covers from artist such as Rhianna, Kelly Clarkson and Ellie Goulding. All of these covers have simple, clean fonts. On all of the covers the font is placed at the top and bottom of the cover, they all include the artist name at the top and the album name at the bottom.

I decided to ask 30 random people which font they thought suited the POP music franchise, I gave the

participants seven options and asked them to tick their preference:

My Font Analysis• I asked 30 random people which font suited Pop music the best.

Option 5 was the most popular with 10 people selecting the font to be the one that relates to pop the most. Option 7 was 2 best option with 8 people selecting this font, therefore with these results I will use the font options in order to reach my audience expectations. Also from doing this questionnaire I established that option 3 was not successful font relating to pop music as there was 0 votes so taking this on board I will not use the font for my album or Poster.
