1.0 Introduction1.1 PurposeThe CRIS foetal anomaly module has been designed to be used in conjunction with the CRIS obstetric ultrasound report templates. The CRIS obstetrics report templates provide the ability to record measurements and observations from obstetric ultrasound examinations.

With earlier versions of CRIS (06.12) the foetal anomaly module comprised of three report templates - a detailed anomaly form, a biophysical profile form and a pregnancy outcome form. These forms are still used, but the anomaly form has been amended to fall in line with the latest ‘Foetal Anomaly Screening Programme’ directives (FASP). The suite of forms associated with this new directive is the FASP Anomaly form, the FASP Anatomy form and the FASP Detailed form. There are only subtle differences between the old and the new FASP forms and as such only the differences will be highlighted.

The foetal anomaly templates have been designed, after discussion with clinical staff, to provide extra functionality as required for foetal medicine departments.

The following screenshots demonstrate what is available within the forms as a guide, but cannot really demonstrate all the available options.For each report type the normal range of graphs are also produced.

2.0 Anomaly Scan2.1 Example of Anomaly Scan Form (pre 2.09.10)CRIS Foetal Anomaly FormThis form starts with a minimum amount of data and fields displayed and expands depending on your selections to allow the entry of additional data. Below are images of the screen at the various different levels of additional fields with the additional fields scrolled to the centre of the report section.

Form with long bones selected. This allows you to record the size of various areas. The pull down list shown is configurable.

Form with full anomaly details section visible by selecting an appropriate value in the Anomaly Summary field. Very little detail has been filled in. Each of the anatomy fields has an extra details box that appears when an abnormality is selected. All of the anatomy fields default to “Seen” and the user only has to alter those which are not seen or an abnormality has been seen.




Form with three of the anatomy fields marked with some abnormalities. As you can see more than 1 value can be recorded against each part of the anatomy. Each part of anatomy has its own list of pre defined anomalies. These are configurable and can be added to.




2.2 FASP Anomaly Form (2.09.10 and beyond)FASP forms have their own field set.A number of fields are not used any more and will not be present on a new form, i.e. Long Bones, Soft Markers and Invasive Invest.With regards to ‘Long Bones’, if existing data is present, this will be shown on the form.New fields have been introduced:

1. Patient consented to scan – A ‘checkbox’ now exists to indicate whether the patient has agreed to the scan being performed.

2. Screening Incomplete – A ‘checkbox now exists that indicated whether or not the scan was completed. If this is ‘ticked’ another dialog is produced allowing the user to enter one of a set of pre-defined reasons.

These two fields have also been added to existing North West forms, the anomaly, the anatomy and the detailed forms.The anatomy fields are always visible on the FASP forms, they cannot be hidden. They are also presented in one long column instead of across the page. This is to allow all abnormalities for any field to be recorded.

2.3 FASP Printed Forms

There are a few minor changes with the printed reports from the FASP forms. The general data fields are printed, the majority of the time, as they appear on the screen. This is configurable via the associated print format. There is the option of printing the foetal measurement centile ranges, this is not configurable but formats are available to do it, if the customer so wishes.

Also, if the anatomy fields do not show any abnormalities, there are grouped to by body area, similar to as they are laid out on the screen.

This layout relies on calls to the application code, so any required changes will need a code change.




3.0 Biophysical Profile3.1 Example of Biophysical Profile Form

As in the previous form, data can be entered into the relevant fields. As demonstrated in the screen shot, the user can define which measurement should be used to calculate estimated foetal weight (EFW)




4.0 Pregnancy Outcome4.1 Example of Pregnancy Outcome FormPregnancy Outcome Form. This form is filled in after delivery to show the actual outcome results. It is also possible to attach photographs of the foetus so that other parents with the same suspected abnormality can be shown real pictures of babies with the same condition. This of course requires the appropriate permissions.
