The RevElution Bio-Concentrator is a rapid and efficient way to quickly concentrate liquid microbial samples aslarge as 2 L to as little as 200 l. Liquid samples aredrawn into a single use pipette tip and particles arecaptured on the internal membrane. When the entiresample has been processed, the unit stops and signalsthe user to start the patented wet foam elution process.Captured particles are recovered in a concentrated form, resulting in an over 90% recovery rate. And, because

the entire sample path is contained in a disposable tip,sample-to-sample carry over is eliminated.

    1. Concentrates at a rate of up to 100 mL/min2. High ef ciency rates for bacteria, parasites,

molds and whole cells3. Single-use tips eliminate contaminant carryover4. Easy push-button operation

    5. Operators can be trained in less than 10 minutes6. Entire sample path is contained within the dis-posable tip

    4. Biological samples remain viable5. Accepts starting volumes as large as 2 L6. Final concentration from 200-1000 l (less than

    1 mL)7. Competitively priced8. One year warranty

    f. Q uAlIfyIng Q uestIonsQ. What are you currently using for rapid

    concentration?

If the customer is using membrane filtration, the process is manual and lengthy (taking atleast 15 minutes). The RevElution, in compari-son, is an automated system that can process250 mL in under two minutes.

If the customer is using the PATHATRIX model,it can take as much as 120 minutes to concen-trate 250 mL. The PATHATRIX model is alsomore expensive than the RevElution.

    Q. What problems are you having with yourcurrent evaporation process?

If the customer complaint is a high cost persample, note that the RevElution costs roughly$13 per sample with higher efficiency rates thanother products. With other units, the cost persample can be up to $250.

    a. Can only deliver concentration factors of upto 200 times per minute, while theRevEution can deliver up to 500 times perminute

    b. Manual process sample and syringes areused to push and pull liquid through a filterto extract the captured particles

    2. Centrifuge a. Takes at least 15 minutes to process samples b. Requires a skilled operator c. Input volume is seriously limited to the size

of the centrifuge d. Is technically challenging with low input

    concentrations

    g. p ossIBle o BjectIons & r esponses1. I use a centrifuge in my lab, and it works

    for me.

A centrifuge costs up to $200 per sample andcan take 15 minutes or longer to concentratethe samples. Retrieving the bacteria incorrectlycan lower recovery rates.

    2. What about cross contamination?

Because the tips of the RevElution are single-use, contamination is not an issue. To cleanthe lines of the unit, decontamination fluid andrinse fluids are available in the Maintenance Kit.

    3. Ive never used this type of unit.

The RevElution is a one of a kind unit for fastconcentration of up to 2 L samples. Efficiencyof the microorganism recovery is high, and itssmall enough to fit on a lab bench or be stored when not in use.
