Focus of the Week Reception September 19 th 23 rd Literacy Objectives: To further develop fine motor skills such as painting, cutting, threading and glueing To develop listening skills and awareness of sounds in the environment To work towards using the correct pencil grip To write own name using the school font (Nelson font) To record pictures for some of our classroom agreements/rules Maths Objectives: To continue to practise writing numbers 1 – 10 and beyond (starting to form them from the correct starting point) To represent numbers using concrete materials Eg. Number 7 – 7 trains, Number 10 – 10 circles To follow a set pattern using different materials (eg. beads, buttons, shapes) To create own repeating patterns Putonghua: To learn numbers to 10 To start to recognise Chinese characters Leap Van: In the last couple of weeks, both Reception classes have visited the Leap Van. This week, we will continue with some activities on the importance of eating a variety of healthy foods every day. Please send in a hat for your child to use at school. The hats should come into school on Monday and are sent home for washing on Friday. Reminders Our photos are THIS week – Thursday and Friday. Please send the students in the correct uniform – especially black school shoes and white socks. (No sports shoes this Thursday.)
