R&B and Hip Hop

Magazine!

Black= Original Idea

Blue= Feedback

Page 2: Focus group

What kind of music will your magazine focus on?

The magazine will mainly be focused on a blend Hip Hop/ R&B

music. This is because my the results of questionnaire feedback

showed that many artist crossed over into both genre’s.

It was agreed that it would be better to do a cross over of the two

genre’s as it was said it may be quite hard to find artists who’s

music doesn’t range between the two.

What will your magazine be called?

The Beat

The Latest Beat

The name of the magazine will be ‘The Beat’, as people thought ‘The

Latest Beat’ is to long and not as too the point. It was also said that they

would be more attracted to a magazine with a masthead that’s short,

snappy and straight to the point.

Will you feature a single artist or a band on your Front

Cover?

My front cover will feature a single artist. As many people said they

preferred the image on the front cover to be one big image as the focus

point.

I will still have the same artist that the interview will be with as my main

image. Through feedback it was said that it will be more likely to attract

buyers who listen the their music. And by only using one image, it will

avoid cluttering the front page.

What kind of article will be on your double page spread?

The article will feature an interview, as over half of the surveys decided

it would be the most interesting to read.

Feedback showed that this is a good idea, and to ensure that it is not

dragged out longer than it needs to be, in order to maintain the

audience’s interest.

What colour scheme will your magazine have?

The colour scheme will be mainly Black, white and blue.

The colour scheme will be black white and dark blue. I found that

people thought it was important not to use neutral colours instead and

incorporate dark blue instead of light blue as it has a more ‘urban’ look

about it, instead of a light, soft blue, which is connotes softness, the

opposite of what I want to portray.

How much will it cost?

The magazine will cost £3

The magazine will cost £3.20, as it was stated that £3 was quite low for

a high quality magazine of this genre. However, with there being many

similar magazines around, it is important that it is not over priced.

Also with it being mainly young people who are into this genre, they will

not be willing to continuously spend a lot of money on a magazine.
