CHAIRMAN’S CHAT

Well, the annual general meeting has come and gone and we are already into

the new club year. Once again, the meeting went smoothly and the same

committee was re-elected, with the exception of Mario who has decided to

take a short break. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my fellow

committee members for all of the hard work that they did during the

previous year. I think, as far as clubs go, our club runs very smoothly, and it is

only due to the hard work put in by the members of the committee that make

the club runs so well. I would also like to thank all of the members who have

contributed to making the year a successful one. We must not forget that

the club is run by the members, for the members.

As always, my photography goes through a cycle of ups and downs. Sometimes

I am really enjoying my photography then all times when I am not excited

about what I am doing at all. I don’t really enjoy taking photographs simply to

get gold awards at the club, I much prefer trying something new, something

that will take my knowledge and experience further. Very often though, what

I try doesn’t work at first and I have to keep working at it to get it right. It

is very frustrating when I am not getting the images that I would like but

when it does start working, it is very satisfying. Sometimes I need to actually

do something to kick-start the process and I find a good way to do this is to

set myself a little project. At the moment I am working on a project which

involves capturing movement in a photograph. I am enjoying it, and I think it

is going quite well but we will see the results at the end.

There’s only one month left until the end of the year. So they will be two

more meetings to share our images. It’s funny that even after so many years

we are still enjoy seeing the images at the club particularly as there are some

members who are doing really good work. Keep it up.

See you soon.

Colin

1,500Kb.

7. It is recommended that the image be displayed in the sRGB Colour Profile. This can be

selected in the camera or changed in Photoshop under Edit/Convert to Profile.

HUMOUR

A devout Muslim entered a black cab in London. He curtly asked the cabbie to turn off the radio because as decreed by his religious teaching, he must not listen to music because in the time of the prophet there was no music, especially Western music which is the music of the infidel. The cab driver politely switched off the radio, stopped the cab and opened the door The Arab asked him, "What are you doing?" The cabbie answered, "In the time of the prophet there were no taxis, so get out and wait for a camel!!"

UNUSUAL PHOTOGRAPHS

Low clouds over a volcano.

The waterfall (on the rock El Captain, Yosemite National Park ) seems to be "on fire" when

sunlight hits it at specific angle.

This happens only in 2 weeks at the end of February.

Some photographers may have to wait several years before capturing the fire fall on film

as shown in the following pictures
